offers, managing orders, seamless logistics integration, trusted and integrated payment solutions,
internal cataloguing team to help data migration and listing, reporting and customer care

REPORT PROJECTS GROWTH IN OMAN’S ONLINE RETAIL MARKET
According to a report prepared by Dubai-based investment banking firm Alpen Capital, Oman’s online retail market
accounted for 12% of its total retail market, adding that e-commerce sales in the GCC was expected to reach 41.5 billion
dollars in 2021.
The growing consumer base, which includes a high percentage of young and working-class consumers, is the main driver
of growth in the GCC retail sector, the report said.
The retail sector in the GCC is expected to grow at an annual rate of 4.6 percent, rising from 250.5 billion US Dollars in 2016
to 313.2 billion US Dollars by 2021.
Food retail sales in the GCC are expected to grow at an annual rate of 3.5 percent, driven by the growing consumer base
and demand for healthy food.
High smartphone penetration has helped e-commerce to grow in Oman and neighboring GCC countries. Oman and UAE
has 2nd highest smartphone penetration in gulf region after Qatar which has 79% penetration.

The top products/product categories for Omani online buyers include clothing, mobile phones
(accessories), beauty care products and furniture. Offering products from these categories can help you
