In this article, the authors explain how loss chasing affects gambling which is

simply the "high" one receives from losing bets and the urge to continue to play

and spend more and more money to break even. The authors include Zhang Chen,

Roos Arwen Doekemeijer, Xavier Noël and Frederick Verbruggen. Zhang Chen

and Doekemeijeris are journalists, Verbruggen is known for his studies in

cognitive science, neuroscience, and cognitive psychology. He graduated from

Ghent University and Noël has a PHD in psychology. The targeted audience of

this article are adults because it goes in depth about the science of gambling and

how the casinos hook people in so adults that have or are thinking about doing it

is the targeted audience. The article can support the claim that online gambling is

worse for compulsive gamblers because a person can gain a high from merely

losing and trying to break even. This article was published in August of 2022 so

the information is relevant to the current time.

government affairs for the Family Research Council. Additionally the article was

published by Gale in the series "Opposing viewpoints", a reliable database for

different viewpoints on all kinds of topics. The article talks about why the

government is right to ban online gambling. McClusky brings up points such as

the overwhelming support for the ban by the people, its addictiveness and its

effect on the gamblers and their families. The evidence in the article can be used

in a rebuttal supporting just how widespread the addictiveness of gambling really

is.

or to adolescents who use the Internet a lot because the techs from big companies

counterclaim that adolescents are protected from gambling ads.

is a member of IGC, which is an international nonprofit organization that deals

with issues within the interactive gambling industry explains why the author is

qualified to talk about online gambling. Some companies are making money

through online gambling and trying to keep young people and the socially

disadvantaged away from gambling. This can be used as a counter claim to the

claim that online gambling is bad for adolescents.

about how she originally had no interest in sports but after trying out betting apps

as an experiment, it got her hooked. In other words it made the "uninteresting"

sports interesting to her. This article can be used to support the claim that online

gambling is extremely addicting.

be wary that the app has the power to steal their personal information to sell. An

old user has evidence that the app Sky Bet had information about his location, his

habits, and his gambling routines, which should be outlawed because it invades

personal privacy.
