Medical Marijuana

I. Introduction

Marijuana or also known as Cannabis is a illegal substance. The marijuana plant has been used as
a drug for both recreational and entheogenic purposes and in various traditional medicines for decades
or centuries. So therefore, the original use of this plant is for medicinal purposes. Since marijuana is
illegal nowadays, the question needs to be answered is, should medical marijuana can be a medical
option? For me it should be, because it can helps individuals who suffer various of illnesses that
prescribed medications of doctors had failed to treat. I agree to legalize marijuana for medical treatment
only, not for hallucination.

II. Body

There is some research that indicates marijuana may help decrease nausea, stimulate appetite,
and decrease pain. The research is limited, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), along with
most national medical associations – including the American Medical Association (AMA). For me
marijuana should be subject for research or study in order to find any other potential benefits or
medicines. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the sole Federal agency that approves drug
products as safe and effective for intended indications. I know for myself that this substance has a bad
effects but with the guide of some experts we can control on how to use it properly in performing
medication.

There is already a substantial body of research demonstrating the health and safety risks from
the use of marijuana. More research on marijuana, including possible medical applications as well as
research on associated health and impairment risks from the use of marijuana, is needed. Not only is
there a need for more research on any possible medical benefits, but also on identifying the chemicals
within marijuana associated with any benefits, appropriate dosage levels, and safe means of
administration, should medical benefits exist.

III. Conclusion

Marijuana was originally use for medicine but some individuals are using it as recreational or
entheogenic drug. We already know that marijuana is an illegal drug or substance but for me in
medication it should be legalize, as long as it will be guided by some administration and association. It
really depends on how or what way are we going to use it. Consideration of marijuana as medicine
should be treated with the same logical, rational approach as any other drug that has demonstrated
health and safety risks yet may have some medical benefit. The medical and scientific community
establishes policy based on available knowledge while continuing to conduct research on the drug to
increase that knowledge base. Anything less puts the safety and health of the general public at risk.
