5-Work profile

As I was doing internship in this organization, work profile assigned to me was


‘INTERN’.

Being an Intern, following are department that I have worked with and
what they do:

 Accounts; this manages all Accounting activities in organization.

 Research department; It does market research and identifying customer

needs and wants

 Business Development; this department uses various analytical data and

develops idea for business development

 Procurement; this manages all purchasing activities in organization.

 Sales and marketing department; this manages the sales and marketing

activities of organization.

 Audit Department;this ensures that the company policies are

implemented and all things are done in the rightmanner through

verifications, research and procedures.

07- Actual work Performed

The responsibilities that I was assigned:

 Data collection - Collecting data from different sections of supermarket

for analysing and processing it in different format with the help of

Microsoft Excel software.

 Market Research - It includes understanding the environment, staying

tuned with the economic developments, knowing customer needs, and

strengths and weaknesses of peer competitors.

 Understanding Market Segments - Market segmentation is a marketing

strategy in which select groups of consumers are identified so that certain

products or product lines can be presented to them in a way that appeals

to their interests.

 Product Decisions − It is deciding about addition or removal of a

product feature in an offering, deciding about addition of new product,

manipulating products with similar value.

 Promotion Decisions − It includes informing the target market about

various products they would find interesting. Marketing department joins

hands with publicity agencies such as radio, television, and website

management agency to promote the product package

 Price Decisions − It involves decisions about the selling cost of product

as well as discount rates on the basis of promotion.

 Product Distribution − It pertains to which intermediary to employ and

where to place the promotional material.

 Worked with account department to manage various accounting activities

of the Supermarket.

 Assisted in completing tasks of Sales and marketing department by

managing the sales and marketing activities of Supermarket.

 Learnt and implemented advance procurement activities.

 I was a part of audit department and ensured that the company policies

are implemented and all things are done in the right manner through

verifications, research and procedures.

 Analysis of data from profits, taxes, investments, sell and inventory with

various software was done and reports were generated for risk and

financial analysis. This data was studied and solutions were discussed

with higher authority.

08- List of Skills learnt

I learnt the following skills during my Internship:

• Computer skills on Microsoft packages of excel, word, internet skills the

operations of the different applications within Microsoft ERP and in

addition how to operate other office equipment like photocopying

machines among others.

• Relationship-wise, I have gained interpersonal skills that have enhance

the completion of my practicum.

• In all the tasks I performed upon completion I had to report on the final

output hence availing me with the platform of developing my Reporting

skills.

• During the course of the exercise, I was able to take accurately ethical

decisions.

• I gained sound knowledge of MS Office and design software (e.g.,

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)

• Got familiarity with a content management system (e.g., WordPress)

• A passion for learning new things

• Gained sound knowledge of marketing techniques as well as current

practices

• Familiarity with marketing software and tools (e.g., Google AdWords,

Analytics, CRM tools)

• Enhanced my verbal as well as written communication skills

• Exceptional time-management and organizational skills

• Developed ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced team

environment

• Developed an analytical mind with a problem-solving attitude

I acquired knowledge of doing the following:

 I have gained knowledge of how to use Microsoft software for operations

of maintaining various data and reports.

 I have gained knowledge on how various operations are carried out in

Supermarket and similar work places.

 Additionally, I have gained immense knowledge on the acceptable code

of conduct and dressing code in an office environment in order to be

presentable and not to offend any colleagues.

09- List of Problems faced

Problems faced while performing the assigned task

1. The time period which was assigned for internship was quite short for me

to be able to understand all the processes, procedures on operations of the

Accounts and Supermarket functions.

2. I encountered constant challenging circumstances mainly during data

analysis as data was not properly stored and was not in standard format.

3. Microsoft packages were not updated and computer was not advance,

hence it took lot of time for data entry and its processing.

4. Lack of knowledge of products and its inventory created problems in risk

analysis.

5. I also faced a problem of getting where to carry out various tasks.

6. I was not enough confident for using Microsoft applications like excel as

did not had advance knowledge of it.

10-How the problems were addressed

How the problems were addressed to:

1. Problem faced in Computer was discussed with supervisor, and he

allotted advanced system to me for completion of given task.

2. Software issues in Computer was addressed to senior, he updated this

software and now this software were working fluently.

3. For understanding products, I had asked to supervisor if list and

description of product is available, which was provided to me later.

4. I used various learning platform like ‘Youtube’ to learn Microsoft and

Marketing applications.

5. Was in continuous contact with senior associates in order to understand

and implementation of marketing management.

11- List of Contribution made towards better functioning the
organization

Contribution made towards better functioning the organization

1. Provided them risk analysis of their sales and stocks remaining in their
inventory, which will help them to know what is in stock and what needs
to be ordered. Also it will help them to know which products are in
demand and which are not.
2. Provided analysis about why data are generated in scattered way and
financial and audit reports are not up to date. Suggested solution that
“Delay of invoices in the system should be overcome by regular updating
of the system”.
3. Helped organization by Constantly communicating with suppliers for
reconciliation of statements of supplies in past and in future and
creating its proper report.
4. Collected qualitative as well as quantitative data from past marketing
campaigns.
5. Performed competitive analysis and market analysis.
6. Assisted marketing team with day-to-day administrative tasks.
7. Helping in company’s marketing events organization.
8. Preparing promotional presentations.
9. Helping in the distribution of marketing materials.
10.Assisting with advertising and marketing promotions by using web
forums, social media, and direct mail.

13. Opinion of the student

In my opinion, college should consider following points for enhancement of


internship program:

1. Focus on communicating and having a direct line to the students

2. Work closely with Career Services to make sure that students know what

real time work is going on in market.

3. College should include curriculum which helps to work on case study of

real projects, real problems, and deal with real issues of various company.

4. College should host networking events, lunch & learns, or social

gatherings which will be a great way to keep students engaged and allow

them to meet the right people.
