PERATURAN AKADEMIK
(Program Asasi, Pra Diploma, Diploma dan Sarjana Muda UMP)

BAHAGIAN I

1. TAKRIF

Dalam peraturan ini, melainkan konteksnya menghendaki maksud yang lain bagi peraturan
akademik, iaitu:

“Aktiviti Akademik Khas” bermaksud aktiviti pengajian yang mempunyai mod khas, iaitu
Gap Year yang dikategorikan sebagai kesukarelawan khidmat negara, kesukarelawanan
umum seperti sukan, keusahawanan, meningkatkan kemahiran, lawatan dan sebarang aktiviti
yang diluluskan oleh Senat.

“Anumerta” bermaksud penganugerahan Diploma atau Sarjana Muda kepada pelajar yang
meninggal dunia semasa dalam pengajian dan layak dianugerahkan ijazah bagi program yang
didaftarkan tertakluk kepada kelulusan Senat.
“Beban Kredit” bermaksud jumlah bilangan kredit kursus yang diambil oleh pelajar dalam
sesuatu semester.

“Dekan” bermaksud ketua fakulti yang dilantik oleh Naib Canselor.


“Diberhentikan” bermaksud pelajar yang tidak mendaftar sebarang kursus dalam sesuatu
semester atau pelajar yang dipecat dari universiti di bawah Kaedah-kaedah Universiti Malaysia
Pahang (Tatatertib Pelajar-pelajar 2009) serta segala peraturan yang berkuatkuasa di universiti
dari semasa ke semasa.
“Fakulti” bermaksud entiti akademik utama dan merupakan Pihak Berkuasa Universiti yang
ditubuhkan di bawah Seksyen 24 Perlembagaan yang menjalankan pengajaran bagi program -
program sijil, diploma, ijazah atau apa-apa kelayakan akademik lain sebagaimana yang
ditetapkan oleh Senat untuk melahirkan graduan dalam apa-apa program pengajian serta
menjalankan penyelidikan, perundingan dan perkhidmatan untuk kecemerlangan keilmuan
dan profesionalisme.

“Gap Year” bermaksud tempoh penangguhan pengajian pelajar mengikuti aktiviti khidmat
negara, kesukarelawanan dan umum.
“Jam Pembelajaran Pelajar (SLT)” bermaksud jam pembelajaran efektif bagi mencapai hasil
pembelajaran yang telah ditetapkan melalui semua aktiviti pembelajaran termasuk kuliah,
pembelajaran kendiri dan proses pentaksiran.

“Jawatankuasa Akademik Fakulti” bermaksud jawatankuasa yang ditubuhkan oleh fakulti yang
bertanggungjawab terhadap hal ehwal akademik.

“Kuliah” bermaksud pertemuan akademik bersemuka di antara pensyarah dengan pelajar


seperti yang ditetapkan dalam rancangan pengajaran.

“Kursus” bermaksud komponen kurikulum program yang mempunyai kod tersendiri dan
menyumbang kepada pencapaian hasil pembelajaran pelajar yang diluluskan oleh Senat.
“Kursus Terbuka dalam Talian Secara Besar-besaran” Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
bermaksud kursus dalam talian bagi tujuan penyertaan interaktif secara besar-besaran dan boleh
diakses secara terbuka melalui laman sesawang.

“Kredit Ambil” bermaksud kredit yang diambil dalam sesuatu semester.


“Kredit Dapat” bermaksud kredit yang diperolehi oleh pelajar bagi kursus yang lulus.

“Kredit Kira” bermaksud kredit yang diambil kira dalam pengiraan nilai gred.

“Kredit Lulus” bermaksud jumlah kredit lulus untuk bergraduat bagi setiap program yang diluluskan
oleh Senat.

“Majlis Fakulti” bermaksud majlis akademik yang diwakilkan oleh Senat yang
bertanggungjawab terhadap hal ehwal akademik di peringkat fakulti.

“Majlis Peperiksaan Fakulti” bermaksud majlis yang ditubuhkan di bawah Majlis Fakulti
(MF) bagi semua urusan yang berkaitan dengan peperiksaan di peringkat fakulti.

“Mastautin” bermaksud satu tempoh minimum pelajar mengikuti pengajian di kampus


universiti.

“Mata Nilai” bermaksud ketetapan nilai bagi setiap gred.

“Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU)” bermaksud kursus yang menggantikan Mata Pelajaran Wajib
(MPW), dan pelaksanaannya diseragamkan di semua Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam dan
Universiti Swasta.

“Nilai Gred” bermaksud pencapaian gred pelajar bagi sesuatu kursus berdasarkan mata nil ai.

“Purata Nilai Gred (PNG)” bermaksud purata mata nilai gred yang diperolehi bagi sesuatu
semester.

“Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif (PNGK)” bermaksud purata himpunan mata nilai gred yang diperolehi
bagi semua semester yang telah diikuti.
“Pelajar” ertinya seseorang pelajar berdaftar, selain pelajar di suatu institusi yang
bersekutu dengan Universiti atau Kolej Universiti, yang mengikuti kursus pengajian, pengajaran, latihan
atau penyelidikan daripada apa-apa perihalan pada peringkat persediaan, praijazah, lepas ijazah atau
lepas kedoktoran secara sepenuh masa atau sambilan dalam, oleh atau dari Universiti atau Kolej
Universiti itu, dan termasuklah pembelajaran jarak jauh, luar kampus, pertukaran dan pelajar tidak
berijazah;
“Pelajar Kanan” bermaksud pelajar yang telah mengikuti sekurang-kurangnya satu semester
pengajian di universiti.

“Pelajar Kemasukan Terus” bermaksud pelajar yang diterima masuk secara terus ke semester
bersesuaian berdasarkan pengecualian atau pemindahan kredit yang diluluskan oleh universiti.
“Pemindahan Kredit Secara Melintang (Horizontal)” bermaksud pemindahan kredit daripada satu
program ke program pada tahap yang sama.
“Pemindahan Kredit Secara Menegak (Vertikal)” bermaksud pemindahan kredit daripada satu
program ke program pada tahap yang lebih tinggi.
“Penganugerahan” bermaksud pengesahan Senat ke atas pelajar yang telah memenuhi syarat
penganugerahan.

“Pengecualian Kursus” bermaksud jumlah kredit yang dikecualikan kepada pelajar dan perlu
diganti dengan kursus lain atau ketetapan lain yang diluluskan oleh Senat bagi mencukupkan
keperluan kredit bergraduat.
“Penilaian” bermaksud sebarang bentuk pengukuran pencapaian pelajar bagi kursus yang
diambil.
“Perkuliahan” bermaksud semua aktiviti pembelajaran dan pengajaran yang diperlukan bagi
ketetapan hasil pembelajaran dalam pelan pengajaran.
“Pemberi Pendidikan Tinggi (PPT)” bermaksud institusi pendidikan tinggi awam atau swasta yang
diiktiraf oleh Senat.
“Pra-Syarat” bermaksud kursus yang perlu diambil atau lulus sebelum mengambil kursus
berikutnya.
“Program” bermaksud bidang pengajian yang diluluskan oleh Senat sebagai program akademik
secara sepenuh masa atau separuh masa untuk tujuan penganugerahan.
“Semester Lazim” bermaksud semester I dan semester II termasuk semester pendek mengikut tempoh
yang ditetapkan Senat bagi sesuatu sesi akademik.
“Semester Pendek Permulaan” bermaksud semester I di mana pelajar diploma mula mendaftar
pengajian di universiti.
“Semester Pendek” bermaksud semester pengajian yang dilaksanakan semasa cuti akhir
sesi akademik.
“Terputus Pengajian” bermaksud status pelajar yang diluluskan penangguhan pengajian atau
digantung pengajian oleh universiti.
“Senat” bermaksud Senat universiti.
“Universiti” bermaksud Universiti Malaysia Pahang.

BAHAGIAN II

2. TAHUN AKADEMIK

(1) Asasi

Tahun akademik universiti menggunakan sistem trimester dan sistem ini terdiri daripada
semester I, semester II dan semester III. Setiap semester mengandungi 14 minggu (termasuk
kuliah, peperiksaan dan persediaan).

(2) Pra Diploma

Tahun akademik universiti hanya satu (1) semester diguna pakai dengan tempoh 25 minggu
(termasuk kuliah, peperiksaan dan persediaan) pengajian dalam satu tahun akademik.

(3) Diploma dan Sarjana Muda

Tahun akademik universiti dibahagi kepada dua (2) semester lazim iaitu semester I dan
semester II. Setiap semester mengandungi 18 minggu (termasuk kuliah, peperiksaan dan
persediaan).

Di samping dua (2) semester lazim di atas, universiti juga mempunyai satu (1) semester pendek
yang mengandungi sembilan (9) minggu dan dijalankan selepas semester II. Semester ini
tidak termasuk dalam pengiraan tempoh pengajian yang ditetapkan bagi sesuatu program.

Tahun akademik bagi program akademik secara kerjasama dengan PPT adalah tertakluk
kepada perjanjian kerjasama yang ditandatangani.

BAHAGIAN III

3. PENDAFTARAN PELAJAR BAHARU

(1) Semua calon pelajar hendaklah mendaftarkan diri ke program yang ditawarkan serta
menjelaskan yuran pengajian mengikut tarikh yang ditetapkan universiti.

(2) Tawaran akan terbatal jika calon pelajar tidak mematuhi Peraturan 3. (1) tanpa sebab yang dapat
diterima universiti.

BAHAGIAN IV

4. PENDAFTARAN KURSUS

(1) Pendaftaran Kursus

(i) Pelajar hendaklah mendaftar setiap kursus yang diambil pada setiap semester dalam
tempoh masa yang ditetapkan universiti.

(ii) Pelajar hendaklah mendaftar kursus dengan kod kursus yang betul atau setara.

(iii) Semua pelajar kanan dan pelajar kanan yang terputus pengajian hendaklah mendaftar kursus
pada semester berikutnya serta menjelaskan yuran pengajian mengikut tarikh yang ditetapkan
universiti.

(iv) Kegagalan pelajar kanan mendaftar dalam tempoh yang ditetapkan tanpa sebab yang
dapat diterima universiti akan menyebabkan pelajar diberhentikan daripada pengajian.

(v) Pelajar dibenarkan mendaftar kursus yang ditawarkan oleh fakulti lain.

(vi) Kebenaran untuk pelajar mendaftar kursus adalah tertakluk kepada jumlah kredit
maksimum kecuali dengan kebenaran Dekan.

(2) Pindaan Pendaftaran Kursus

(i) Pelajar boleh tambah atau gugur kursus dalam tempoh yang ditetapkan.
(ii) Sebarang permohonan pembetulan lewat daripada tempoh yang ditetapkan tanpa sebab
yang boleh diterima universiti akan dikenakan denda.

(3) Tarik Diri Kursus (TD)

(i) Pelajar boleh memohon untuk menarik diri daripada mana-mana kursus yang telah
didaftarkan dalam tempoh yang ditetapkan oleh universiti.

(ii) Kod TD, akan dicatatkan dalam rekod pendaftaran kursus.

(4) Pendaftaran Kursus Hadir Wajib (HW)

(i) Pelajar dikehendaki mengulang Kursus Hadir Wajib (HW) yang gagal sehingga lulus.

(ii) Kredit kursus yang didaftarkan dengan status HW tidak diambil kira dalam pengir aan
nilai gred. Pelajar yang mendaftar kursus HW hendaklah memenuhi keperluan kehadiran
dan mengikuti segala bentuk penilaian.

(iii) Kod HW akan dicatat dalam rekod pendaftaran kursus dan transkrip.

(5) Pendaftaran Ulang Kursus (UK)

(i) Pelajar yang gagal kursus dalam struktur kurikulum, hendaklah mengulang kursus
tersebut sehingga lulus.

(ii) Pelajar yang gagal kursus pra-syarat dalam struktur kurikulum, hendaklah mengulang
kursus tersebut sehingga lulus.

(iii) Pelajar yang gagal kursus ko-kurikulum hendaklah mengulang kursus tersebut atau boleh
mengambil kursus ko-kurikulum lain yang setara sehingga lulus.

(iv) Pelajar yang gagal kursus elektif hendaklah mengulang kursus tersebut atau boleh
mengambil kursus elektif lain yang setara sehingga lulus.

(v) Kod UK akan dicatat dalam rekod pendaftaran kursus dan transkrip.

(6) Pendaftaran Kursus Baiki Gred (BG)

(i) Pelajar hanya boleh mengulang sekali sahaja mana-mana kursus yang telah lulus bagi
tujuan memperbaiki gred tertakluk kepada syarat-syarat lain yang ditetapkan, kecuali
dengan kelulusan Dekan.

(ii) Kod BG akan dicatat dalam rekod pendaftaran kursus dan gred terkini akan diambil kira
dalam pengiraan nilai gred.

(7) Pendaftaran Kursus Latihan Industri

(i) Bagi kursus latihan industri semester akhir pengajian, pelajar dikehendaki lulus semua kursus
yang ditawarkan dalam struktur kurikulum bagi sesuatu program dengan berstatus akademik
sekurang-kurangnya KB.

(ii) Pelajar yang gagal satu (1) kursus dibenarkan untuk menjalani latihan industri dengan syarat
perlu mengambil peperiksaan khas bagi kursus tersebut.

BAHAGIAN V

5. SKIM KREDIT

(1) Kredit Kursus dan Nilai Kredit

(i) Setiap kursus mempunyai nilai kredit dan pengiraan nilai kredit adalah berdasarkan SLT
atau mengikut ketetapan universiti.

(2) Beban Kredit Maksimum

(i) Jumlah kredit maksimum yang boleh didaftar oleh seseorang pelajar sepenuh masa dalam satu
sesi akademik adalah 50 kredit (43 minggu), manakala bagi situasi yang melibatkan latihan
industri dan pengendalian peperiksaan pelajar boleh mendaftar sehingga maksimum 52
kredit (45 minggu).
(ii) Pelajar yang mendapat keputusan PNGK <2.00 hendaklah mengambil tidak lebih daripada
12 kredit pada semester berikutnya.

(iii) Beban kredit maksimum bagi pelajar sepenuh masa dalam semester lazim yang boleh
diambil ialah 20 kredit. Pelajar boleh memohon kebenaran Dekan jika ingi n mengambil
lebih daripada 20 Kredit.

(iv) Beban kredit maksimum bagi pelajar separuh masa dalam semester lazim yang boleh diambil
ialah 12 kredit. Pelajar boleh memohon kebenaran Dekan jika ingin mengambil
lebih daripada12 kredit.

(3) Kredit Ulang Kursus (UK)

(i) Bagi pelajar yang mengulang kursus (UK), gred terkini akan menggantikan gred terdahulu.

(ii) Bagi tujuan pengiraan nilai gred, mata nilai terkini kursus yang diulang akan diambil kira, dan
mata nilai terdahulu dimansuhkan.

(4) Kredit Baiki Gred (BG)

(i) Bagi pelajar yang mengulang kursus bagi memperbaiki gred (BG), gred terkini akan
menggantikan gred terdahulu.

(ii) Bagi tujuan pengiraan nilai gred, mata nilai terkini kursus yang diperbaiki akan diambil kira, dan
mata nilai terdahulu dimansuhkan.

(5) Kredit Minimum Program dan Tempoh Pengajian.

(i) Kredit minimum program dan tempoh pengajian seperti di Jadual I.

*Bagi pelajar yang melebihi tempoh pengajian maksimum, pelajar masih boleh meneruskan
pengajian tertakluk kepada kurikulum yang ditetapkan, Peraturan Kewangan Universiti serta
Undang-undang Negara.
*Tempoh pengajian sebenar adalah tertakluk kepada ketetapan Senat atau badan akreditasi
berkaitan.

*Kredit adalah berdasarkan kepada Kerangka Kelayakan Malaysia (MQF), walau bagaimanapun
kredit minimum sebenar adalah tertakluk kepada ketetapan badan akreditasi berkaitan.

(ii) Tempoh pengajian maksimum pelajar kemasukan terus bagi program diploma adalah 10
semester termasuk semester yang telah mendapat pemindahan kredit. Tempoh pengajian
maksimum pelajar kemasukan terus bagi program sarjana muda adalah 12 semester termasuk
semester yang telah mendapat pemindahan kredit.

(iii) Bagi program kerjasama akademik universiti, ketetapan kredit minimum, tempoh pengajian
minimum dan tempoh pengajian maksimum adalah bergantung kepada perjanjian yang
dipersetujui oleh institusi yang berkenaan.

(iv) Universiti berhak menetapkan kursus yang disetarakan untuk diambil oleh pelajar yang
melebihi tempoh pengajian sebenar sekiranya kursus yang berbaki tidak ditawarkan
lagi.

6. PEMINDAHAN KREDIT & PENGECUALIAN KURSUS

(1) Pemindahan Kredit Secara Menegak (Vertikal)

(i) Dasar pemindahan kredit secara menegak berdasarkan situasi adalah seperti
berikut:

(a) Pemindahan kredit daripada MQF Tahap 3 (Sijil) ke MQF Tahap 4 (Diploma)
adalah dibenarkan sehingga maksimum 30% daripada jumlah kredit program
yang akan diikuti atau mana-mana ketetapan badan akreditasi.

(b) Pemindahan kredit daripada MQF Tahap 4 (Diploma) kepada MQF Tahap 6
(Sarjana Muda) adalah dibenarkan sehingga maksimum 50% daripada jumlah
kredit program yang akan diikuti atau mana-mana ketetapan badan akreditasi seperti
berikut :

Pemindahan kredit maksimum 60% masih dikekalkan bagi gabungan pindah kredit yang
melibatkan kelayakan akademik dan Pengakreditan Pembelajaran Berasaskan
Pengalaman Terdahulu bagi Tujuan Penganugerahan Kredit [APEL(C)], Massive Open
Online Courses (MOOC) dan Micro-Credential (MC).

(c) Pelajar yang berkelayakan MQF Tahap 5 (Advanced Diploma) yang turut memiliki
MQF Tahap 4 (Diploma) boleh dipertimbangkan pemindahan kredit sehingga
maksimum dua tahun pengajian program peringkat Sarjana Muda atau mana-mana
ketetapan badan akreditasi.

(d) Pemindahan kredit daripada kelayakan yang lebih tinggi ke program di peringkat
yang lebih rendah adalah tidak dibenarkan.

(2) Pemindahan Kredit Secara Melintang (Horizontal)

(i) Dasar pemindahan kredit secara melintang adalah pemindahan kredit bersama nilai
gred adalah berdasarkan situasi berikut:

(a) Pemindahan kredit tidak dibenarkan bagi pelajar yang telah memiliki kelayakan
dan ingin melanjutkan pelajaran kali kedua dalam peringkat yang sama dengan
kelayakan yang dimiliki.

(b) Pemindahan kredit dibenarkan bagi pelajar yang sedang mengikuti program dan
ingin menukar program lain dalam bidang yang sama dengan program yang
sedang diikuti.

(c) Tiada had pemindahan kredit bagi pertukaran program di dalam universiti yang
sama.

(d) Had pemindahan kredit bagi pelajar daripada PPT yang lain ke universiti, adalah tertakluk
kepada syarat pemastautin pelajar sekurang-kurangnya satu tahun (residential year)
atau mengikut ketetapan badan akreditasi seperti berikut:

dan tempoh mastautin selama satu (1) semester tersebut mesti melibatkan aktiviti
pengajaran dan pembelajaran tidak termasuk latihan industri, mobiliti atau setara.
(e) Pemindahan kredit (termasuk MPU) adalah tidak dibenarkan bagi pelajar yang gagal
program dan ingin melanjutkan pengajian dalam program yang lain di peringkat
yang sama.

(f) Pemindahan kredit boleh dipertimbangkan bagi pelajar yang berhenti belajar
pengajian dan kemudiannya ingin menyambung semula pengajian tetapi dalam program
lain di peringkat yang sama.

(g) Jumlah pemindahan kredit melintang bagi MOOC ialah tidak melebihi 30% daripada
jumlah kredit bergraduat.

(ii) Pelajar boleh memohon pemindahan kredit sesuatu kursus dengan syarat:
(a) Kursus berkenaan adalah daripada program yang setara dengan program yang
bakal diikuti, dan
(b) Kesetaraan antara kandungan kursus atau hasil pembelajaran hendaklah tidak
kurang daripada 80%, dan

(c) Pemindahan Kredit Secara Melintang (Horizontal) yang diluluskan akan diambil
kira dalam pengiraan PNG dan PNGK, dan
(d) Nilai Kredit Kursus bagi program terdahulu hendaklah sekurang-kurangnya setara
dengan nilai kredit kursus yang dimohon. Dua (2) atau lebih kursus boleh
digabungkan untuk mendapatkan nilai kredit yang setara, dan

(e) Kursus yang dimohon untuk pemindahan kredit hendaklah daripada program
pengajian yang telah mendapat perakuan akreditasi, dan

(f) Semua kursus yang diambil oleh pelajar di PPT lain sewaktu menjalani program
mobiliti hendaklah dipindahkan kredit dengan gred yang setara.

(iii) Jumlah maksimum pemindahan kredit hendaklah tertakluk kepada ketetapan badan
akreditasi yang berkenaan.

(3) Pengecualian Kursus

(i) Pengecualian kursus tidak akan menyebabkan pelajar mendapat kredit bagi kursus yang
dikecualikan.

(ii) Sekiranya pengecualian kursus itu akan menyebabkan keperluan kredit bergraduat
tidak mencukupi, maka pelajar perlu mengambil kursus lain bagi menggantikan
kursus tersebut.
(iii) Pelajar antarabangsa perlu atau boleh mengambil kursus MPU mengikut ketetapan
semasa.

(vi) Pelajar yang mempunyai pengalaman setaraf dengan kursus peringkat sijil atau
diploma yang diluluskan oleh Senat, boleh diberikan pengecualian kursus.

(1) Prestasi pelajar bagi sesuatu kursus ditunjukkan oleh Petunjuk Prestasi seperti
dalam Jadual II.

Secara amnya, gred lulus minimum bagi sesuatu kursus untuk pengiraan nilai gred ialah
‘D’. Walau bagaimanapun, gred lulus untuk sesuatu kursus adalah tertakluk kepada fakulti
dengan kelulusan Senat.

(3) Markah lulus bagi sesuatu kursus berdasarkan hasil pembelajaran adalah 50% atau mana-
mana ketetapan fakulti.

(4) Selain daripada gred di atas, gred berikut juga digunakan:

(i) TS (Tidak Selesai)


Gred ini diberikan kepada pelajar yang:

(a) tidak dapat mengambil peperiksaan akhir atau tidak melengkapkan sesuatu
kursus kerana disahkan sakit oleh Pegawai Perubatan yang diiktiraf oleh universiti,
atau

(b) belum melengkapkan kursus latihan industri, atau


(c) mengikuti kursus yang mempunyai tempoh lebih daripada satu (1) semester, atau
(d) lain-lain alasan yang diterima oleh Senat.

Pelajar yang mendapat gred TS hendaklah melengkapkan sesuatu kursus sehingga


selesai.

(ii) HS (Hadir Sahaja)


Gred ini diberi kepada pelajar yang mengambil Kursus Hadir Sahaja (HS).

(iii) HL (Hadir Lulus)


Gred ini diberi kepada pelajar yang telah lulus Kursus Hadir Wajib (HW).

(iv) HG (Hadir Gagal)


Gred ini diberi kepada pelajar yang telah gagal Kursus Hadir Wajib (HW).

(v) TD (Tarik Diri)


Kod ini diberi kepada pelajar yang menarik diri daripada sesuatu kursus yang
didaftarnya.

BAHAGIAN VIII

8. PENILAIAN

(1) Kehadiran

(i) Pelajar hendaklah menghadiri perkuliahan mengikut ketetapan universiti.

(ii) Peraturan 8 (1)(i) adalah tidak terpakai kepada kursus yang dikendalikan secara
fleksibel yang diluluskan oleh Senat.

(iii) Peraturan 8 (1)(i) adalah tidak terpakai kepada pelajar yang perlu menyertai aktiviti
akademik khas dengan kelulusan Dekan. Pelajar adalah bertanggungjawab
sepenuhnya memastikan hasil pembelajaran tercapai.

(2) Skim Penilaian

Penilaian bagi setiap kursus boleh dibuat secara berkala dan berterusan dalam sesuatu
semester mengikut kaedah yang ditentukan fakulti tertakluk kepada kelulusan Senat.

(3) Kecurangan Akademik

Sebarang aktiviti kecurangan akademik adalah dilarang dan pelajar yang didapati bersalah
akan dikenakan tindakan tatatertib di bawah Kaedah-kaedah Universiti Malaysia Pahang
(Tatatertib Pelajar-pelajar) 2009.

(4) Peperiksaan Akhir

(i) Pelajar yang layak, wajib mengambil peperiksaan akhir. Ketidakhadiran untuk
peperiksaan akhir tanpa alasan yang diterima oleh universiti boleh menyebabkan pelajar
diberi gred gagal (F).

(ii) Pelajar hendaklah mematuhi Peraturan Peperiksaan Akhir yang telah ditetapkan.
Tindakan tatatertib akan diambil terhadap pelajar yang melanggar mana-mana arahan yang
dikuatkuasakan dari semasa ke semasa.

(iii) Pengumuman Keputusan Peperiksaan Akhir akan diumumkan dalam tempoh yang
ditetapkan oleh universiti.

(5) Peperiksaan Khas

(i) Peperiksaan Khas boleh diadakan untuk kes-kes berikut:

(a) Kategori A
Pelajar yang tidak dapat menduduki peperiksaan akhir kerana disahkan sakit oleh
pegawai perubatan universiti atau kerajaan, atau

(b) Kategori B
Pelajar semester akhir dengan PNGK ≥ 2.00 yang akan mengikuti Latihan
Industri tetapi gagal satu (1) kursus yang mempunyai komponen peperiksaan
akhir; atau

(c) Kategori C
Pelajar semester akhir dengan PNGK ≥ 2.00 bagi tujuan bergraduat tetapi
gagal satu (1) kursus yang mempunyai komponen peperiksaan akhir, atau

(d) Pelajar yang kematian ibu/bapa/penjaga/suami/isteri/anak, atau

(e) Pelajar yang perlu memberi penjagaan rapi kepada ibu/bapa /penjaga /suami/
isteri/anak yang mengalami sakit tenat, atau

(f) Sebab-sebab lain yang boleh diterima universiti.

(ii) Markah peperiksaan khas bagi kes dalam Kategori B dan C akan menentukan keputusan
kursus berkenaan sama ada lulus atau gagal. Gred asal kekal dan keputusan tidak diambil
kira dalam pengiraan nilai gred.
(iii) Peperiksaan khas tidak boleh diadakan bagi kes seperti berikut:

(a) Pelajar yang tidak menduduki peperiksaan akhir tanpa sebab yang boleh
diterima oleh universiti, atau
(b) Pelajar yang gagal disebabkan kecurangan akademik tidak layak mengambil
peperiksaan khas bagi Kategori B dan C.

(6) Semakan Semula Skrip Jawapan Peperiksaan Akhir

Pelajar yang tidak berpuas hati dengan keputusan peperiksaan akhir bagi sesuatu kursus
boleh membuat rayuan semakan semula skrip jawapan peperiksaan akhir dalam tempoh yang
ditetapkan oleh universiti.

9. KEDUDUKAN AKADEMIK

(1) Kedudukan Akademik


(i) Kedudukan Akademik Pelajar ditentukan dengan menggunakan PNG dan PNGK.
(ii) Status kedudukan akademik pelajar ditentukan pada setiap semester lazim dengan
menggunakan PNGK seperti dalam Jadual III.

boleh:
(a) meneruskan pengajian, atau
(b) diarah menangguhkan pengajian pada semester berikutnya, atau
(c) diberhentikan daripada pengajian.

(iv) Status kedudukan akademik pelajar untuk semester pendek tidak ditentukan walaupun PNG dan
PNGK dikira seperti biasa. Kredit dan mata nilai yang diperolehi pada semester pendek ini akan
diambil kira bagi pengiraan PNGK pada semester berikutnya.

(2) Memperbaiki Pencapaian Akademik/Baiki Gred


(i) Pelajar diberi peluang memperbaiki gred kursus dengan syarat-syarat yang berikut:
(a) Pembaikan gred hanya untuk kursus bergred “C-” dan ke bawah.
(b) Pembaikan gred bagi sesuatu kursus hanya dibenarkan sekali sahaja kecuali kursus
yang diperbaiki itu gagal.
(c) Gred yang terkini akan diambil kira dalam pengiraan PNG dan PNGK.
(d) Tempoh pengajian pelajar belum tamat.

(3) Status Tahap Pengajian Pelajar

Status tahap pengajian pelajar ditentukan oleh fakulti berdasarkan jumlah kredit yang diperolehi.

BAHAGIAN X

10. SENARAI KEPUJIAN DEKAN

(1) Pelajar akan tersenarai dalam Senarai Kepujian Dekan sekiranya memenuhi syarat berikut:

(a) Mendapat PNG ≥ 3.50 pada semester berkenaan, dan


(b) Mendaftar sekurang-kurangnya dua belas (12) jam kredit tidak termasuk kursus
berstatus Hadir Wajib (HW).

BAHAGIAN XI

11. PENGANUGERAHAN ASASI, PRA DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA DAN SARJANA MUDA

(1) Syarat Penganugerahan

(I) Pelajar hanya layak menerima setelah syarat-syarat berikut dipenuhi:

(a) telah memenuhi kredit bergraduat, dan


(b) mencapai PNGK ≥ 2.00, dan
(c) syarat-syarat lain yang ditetapkan, dan
(d) telah mendapat kelulusan Senat.

(2) Permohonan Penangguhan Penganugerahan

(i) Pelajar dibenarkan untuk menangguh penganugerahan dalam tempoh yang ditetapkan oleh
universiti bagi tujuan memperbaiki gred kursus yang telah diambil yang mendapat gred C- dan
ke bawah.
(ii) Tempoh penangguhan penganugerahan tidak melebihi satu (1) semester pengajian
akademik.
(iii) Pelajar yang memohon penangguhan penganugerahan perlu mendaftar kursus yang
bakal diambil pada semester berikutnya mengikut tempoh yang ditetapkan oleh universiti.

(3) Penganugerahan Anumerta

(i) Penganugerahan diploma atau sarjana muda kepada pelajar yang meninggal dunia semasa
dalam pengajian dan layak dianugerahkan bagi program yang didaftar tertakluk kepada kelulusan
Senat.
(ii) Syarat-syarat Penganugerahan Anumerta:
(a) Berstatus kedudukan baik; dan
(b) Mencapai sekurang-kurangnya 80% daripada keperluan kredit bergraduat dan
tahap hasil pembelajaran program yang memuaskan.

(4) Kelas Penganugerahan Diploma dan Sarjana Muda

(i) Kelas Penganugerahan Diploma dan Sarjana Muda adalah seperti dalam Jadual IV.

12. PENANGGUHAN PENGAJIAN

(1) Kategori penangguhan pengajian terbahagi kepada dua iaitu:


(i) Penangguhan pengajian yang diambil kira dalam pengiraan tempoh pengajian berdasarkan
kelulusan Dekan;
(a) Masalah Peribadi
Tempoh penangguhan adalah satu (1) semester bagi setiap kali permohonan
dengan kelulusan Dekan tertakluk kepada tempoh pengajian maksimum.
(ii) Penangguhan pengajian yang tidak diambil kira dalam pengiraan tempoh pengajian
berdasarkan kelulusan Dekan;

(a) Aktiviti Akademik Khas (Khusus)


Tempoh penangguhan tidak melebihi satu (1) tahun pengajian sama ada satu (1)
semester atau dua (2) semester berturut-turut, atau

(b) Aktiviti Akademik Khas (Umum)


Tempoh penangguhan yang dibenarkan adalah satu (1) semester sahaja sepanjang
pengajian, atau

(c) Kesihatan
Tempoh penangguhan tidak melebihi satu (1) tahun pengajian akademik.

(iii) Kelulusan Senat adalah diperlukan sekiranya permohonan melebihi daripada tempoh
yang ditetapkan.

(2) Bagi kes kesihatan, senat berhak untuk menentukan sama ada pelajar dibena rkan untuk
meneruskan pengajian atau diberhentikan berasaskan perakuan Pegawai Kesihatan
Universiti.

BAHAGIAN XIII

13. DAFTAR SEMULA

(1) Senat boleh memberikan pertimbangan kepada pelajar yang gagal pada tahun satu semester
pertama untuk Daftar Semula (DS) sekiranya pelajar membuat permohonan kepada fakulti.

(2) Pelajar DS dianggap telah menggunakan satu semester daripada tempoh pengaj iannya.

(3) Pelajar Kedudukan Gagal Daftar Semula (KGDS) akan memulakan pengajian seperti pelajar
baru tetapi pemindahan kredit yang pernah diluluskan akan diguna pakai.
(4) Pelajar DS akan diberhentikan pengajian jika gagal mendapat PNG > 2.00 pada semester
pertama pengajian ulangan itu.
(5) Pelajar kanan yang terputus pengajian hendaklah membuat pendaftaran semula.

14. PERTUKARAN PROGRAM PENGAJIAN

Pelajar tidak dibenarkan memohon pertukaran program pengajian kecuali dengan kebenaran
Senat.

BAHAGIAN XV

15. PERUNTUKAN AM

(1) Semua kaedah pelaksanaan yang dicatatkan dalam Peraturan dan Panduan Akademik
hendaklah dipatuhi. Senat berhak untuk meminda sebarang peruntukan dalam Peraturan dan
Panduan Akademik ini dari semasa ke semasa.

(2) Pelajar adalah tertakluk kepada Akta Universiti & Kolej Universiti (1971), Kaedah-kaedah
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (Tatatertib Pelajar-pelajar 2009) dan Peraturan Pembayaran Yuran
Pelajar serta segala peraturan yang berkuat kuasa di universiti dari semasa ke semasa.

ACADEMIC REGULATIONS
(FOUNDATION, PRE-DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN UMP)

PART I

1. DEFINITIONS

In this Academic Regulations, unless the context requires a different meaning:

“Special Academic Activity” is an academic activity that operates on a special mode, i.e.
Gap Year that is categorised as national service volunteerism, or general volunteerism such
as sports, entrepreneurship, upskilling, field trips and any activities approved by the Senate.
“Posthumous Award” is conferment of Diploma atau Bachelor’s Degree to students who pass
away during the duration of their study and are eligible to be conferred an award for the registered
programme subject to the Senate’s approval.
“Credit Load” is the total of course credits taken by students in a particular semester.
“Dean” is the head of faculty appointed by the Vice Chancellor.
“Terminated” is the status of students who are not registered in any course in a particular
semester or students who are dismissed from the University under the Regulations of
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (Student Discipline 2009) and all other regulations enforced at the
University from time to time.

“Faculty” is the main academic entity which is the University Authorities established under
Section 24 of the Constitution that conducts learning programmes for certificate, diploma,
bachelor’s degree programmes or any academic qualifications as stipulated by the Senate to
produce graduates in any academic programmes besides conducting research, consultations and
services for academic and professional excellence.

“Gap Year” is the duration of students’ deferment due to involvement in national service
volunteerism and general volunteerism.
“Student Learning Time (SLT)” is effective learning time to achieve learning outcomes that
have been set through learning activities including lectures, independent learning and
assessments.
“Faculty Academic Committee” is the committee set up by the faculty to be responsible for
academic related matters.
“Lecture” is a face-to-face academic meeting between a lecturer and students as
stipulated in the teaching plans.

“Course” is the component of the programme curriculum which has its own code and
contributes to the achievement of student learning outcomes as approved by the Senate.
“Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)” is online course for the purpose of large-scale
interactive participation and accessible via websites.
“Taken Credit” is the credit taken in a particular semester.

“Earned Credit” is the credit earned by the students for the passing courses.
“Counted Credit” is the credit counted for the calculation of grade value.
“Passing Credit” is the total credit passed required for students to graduate for every programme
approved by the Senate.
“Faculty Council” is the academic council representing the Senate which is responsible for academic
matters at the faculty level.
“Faculty Examination Council” is the council set up by the Faculty Council to manage examination
related matters at the faculty level.
“Residential Period” is the minimum duration for students to undergo a study in the university
campus.
“Point Value” is stipulated value for every grade.
“General Subjects (MPU)” are courses that replace Compulsory Subjects (MPW), and are uniformly
executed in all Public and Private Higher Education Institutions.

“Grade” is students’ grade achievement for a particular course based on point value.

“Grade Point Average (GPA)” is the average grade point obtained in a particular semester.
“Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)” is the cumulative average grade point obtained
for all the semesters enrolled.

“Student” is a registered student, other than students in an institution affiliated with the University or
College University, who is pursuing a course of study, teaching, training or research of any descriptions at
the preparatory level, pre-degree, post-degree or post-doctorate, full-time or part-time, from/by the
University or College University, and this includes distance learning, off-campus, exchange and non-
graduate students.

“Senior Student” is a student who has completed at least one semester of study at the
university.

“Direct Entry student” is a student who is admitted directly into the appropriate semester based on
credit exemption or credit transfer approved by the University.
“Horizontal Credit Transfer” is the transfer of credits from one programme to another programme
at the same level.
“Vertical Credit Transfer” is the transfer of credits from one programme to another programme
at a higher level.
“Conferment” is the Senate’s confirmation on a student who meets the conferment
requirements.
“Course Exemption” is the total credit exempted for students which should be replaced by
other courses or or stipulations as approved by the Senate to fulfil the credit requirements for
graduation.
“Assessment” is any forms of students’ achievement measurement for a course taken.
“Lectures” are all teaching and learning activities required to achieve the learning outcomes
as stipulated in the teaching plan.
“Higher Education Provider (PPT)” is a public or private higher education institution recognised
by the Senate.

“Pre-requisite” is a course that requires students to get a pass before taking the next course.
“Programme” is a programme of study approved by the Senate as an academic programme in part-time
or full-time mode for conferment purposes.
“Common Semester” is Semester I and Semester II including short semester according to the
duration of study that has been set by the Senate for an academic session.
“Preliminary Short Semester” is semester I in which the diploma students register their studies in the
University.
“Short Semester” means a semester that is conducted during the final semester break of an academic
year.
“Deferred” is the status for students who are approved for deferment of study or are suspended
by the University.
“Senate” is the University Senate.
“University” is Universiti Malaysia Pahang.

PART II

2. ACADEMIC YEAR

(1) Foundation

The University academic year uses trimester system and that comprises semester I, semester
II and semester III. Each semester comprises of 14 weeks (including lectures, examinations and
preparations)

(2) Pre-Diploma

One University academic year only applies one (1) semester of 25 weeks (including lectures,
examinations and preparations).

(3) Full-time Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree

The University academic year is divided into two (2) common semesters: Semester I and
Semester II. Each semester comprises 18 weeks (including lectures, examinations and
preparations).
Other than the two (2) common semesters mentioned above, the University also has one
(1) short semester that comprises (9) weeks and is conducted after S emester II. This
semester is not included in the calculation of study period stipulated for a particular programme.

The academic year for an academic programme in collaboration with a PPT is subject to the
memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed.

PART III

3. NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

(1) All student candidates are required to register for the programme offered and pay the tuition
fees on the date set by the University.
(2) The offer is considered void if student candidates do not comply with Regulation 3.(1) without
reasons accepted by the University.

PART IV

4. COURSE REGISTRATION

(1) Course Registration

(i) Students are required to register for every course that will be taken each semester within
the duration set by the University.

(ii) Students are required to register the courses with the correct or equivalent codes.

(iii) All senior students and deferred senior students are required to register the courses in
the subsequent semester and pay the tuition fees on the date set by the University.

(iv) Failure to register within the stipulated duration without reasons that can be accepted by
the University will cause students to be terminated from their study.
(v) Students are allowed to register for the courses offered by other faculties.

(vi) Permission for students to register the courses is subject to the maximum total credit, or
otherwise with Dean’s approval.

(2) Course Registration Amendments

(i) Students are permitted to add or withdraw from the courses within the stipulated
duration.

(ii) Any applications for correction later than the stipulated duration without reasons that can
be accepted by the University will be imposed with a fine.

(3) Course Withdrawal (TD)

(i) Students can apply for withdrawal from any registered courses within the duration set by
the University.

(ii) The TD code will be recorded in the course registration record.

(4) Compulsory Course (HW) Registration

(i) Students are required to repeat a failed Compulsory Course (HW) until they pass.

(ii) The course credit that is registered with the HW status is not considered in the calculation
of grades. Students who register for HW courses have to attend classes and complete
all assessments set.

(iii) The HW code will be recorded in the course registration record and transcript.

(5) Repeat Course (UK) Registration


(i) Students who fail a compulsory course in the curricular structure must repeat the course
until they pass.

(ii) Students who fail a pre-requisite course in the curricular structure must repeat the course
until they pass.

(iii) Students who fail a co-curricular course must repeat the course or take another equivalent
co-curricular course until they pass.

(iv) Students who fail an elective course must repeat the course or take another equivalent
elective course until they pass.

(v) The UK code will be recorded in the course registration record and transcript.

(6) Grade Improvement Course (BG) Registration

(i) Students are permitted to retake any passed course once for the purpose of improving
their grade subject to stipulated conditions, or otherwise with Dean’s approval.

(ii) The BG code wil be recorded in course registration record and the latest grade will be
considered in the calculation of grade value.

(7) Industrial Training Course Registration

(i) For industrial training in the last semester of study, students are required to pass all
courses offered in a curricular structure of a particular programme with at least a KB
result.

(ii) Students who fail in one (1) course can be considered for industrial training with the
condition that they need to sit for a special exam for the course.

PART V

5. CREDIT SCHEME

(1) Course Credit and Credit Value

(i) Every course has specific credit value and calculation of credit value is based on SLT
or as stipulated by the University.

(2) Maximum Credit Load

(i) The maximum credit load that can be registered by a full-time student in an academic
session is 50 credits (43 weeks); however, for situations involving industrial training and
examination, a student can register for a maximum of 52 credits (45 weeks).

(ii) Students who obtain CGPA < 2.00 are required to take not more than 12 credits in the
following semester.

(iii) The maximum credit load for a full-time student in a common semester is 20 credits.
Students may apply for approval from the Dean if they wish to take more than 20
credits.

(iv) The maximum credit load for a part-time student in a common semester is 12 credits.
Students may apply for approval from the Dean if they wish to take more than 12
credits.

(3) Repeat Course (UK) Credit

(i) For students who repeat a course (UK), the latest grade will replace the former grade.

(ii) For the purpose of grade value calculation, the latest point value for the repeat course will
be considered, and the former point value repealed.

(4) Grade Improvement Course (BG) Credit

(i) For students who repeat a course for the purpose of grade improvement (BG), the latest
grade will replace the former grade.

(ii) For the purpose of grade value calculation, the latest point value for the grade improvement
course will be considered, and the former point value repealed.

(5) Programme Minimum Credit and Duration of Study.


(i) The minimum credit for a Programme and Duration of Study are shown in Table I.

*For students who exceed the maximum duration of study, they can still continue their study
subject to the stipulated curriculum, the University Financial Regulations, and the Malaysian
Law.

*Credit system is based on Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF); however, the actual
minimum credit required is subject to the regulations of the accreditation bodies.

(ii) The maximum duration of study for direct entry students for Diploma programme is 10
weeks including the semester that has obtained credit transfer. The maximum duration
of study for direct entry students for Bachelor’s Degree programme is 12 weeks
including the semester that has obtained credit transfer.

(iii) For University’s academic cooperation programmes, the minimum credit load
requirement and duration of study is subject to the mutual agreement with the related
institutions.

(iv) The University has the right to set courses that are equivalent to be taken by the
students who exceed their actual duration of study if the remaining courses are no
longer offered.

PART VI

6. CREDIT TRANSFER & COURSE EXEMPTION

(1) Vertical Credit Transfer

(i) The policy of vertical credit transfer are based on the following conditions:

(a) The credit transfer from Level 3 MQF (Certificate) to Level 4 MQF (Diploma) is
allowed for up to 30% of the total credits of a programme that followed or subject
to any requirements by the accreditation bodies.

(b) The credit transfer from Level 4 MQF (Diploma) to Level 6 MQF (Bachelor’s
Degree) is allowed for up to 50% of the total credits of a programme that followed
or subject to any requirements by the accreditation bodies as shown below:.

A maximum credit transfer of 60% is still retained for the combination of credit transfers involving
academic qualifications and the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Award
[APEL (C)], Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and Micro-Credential (MC).

(c) Students who are in Level 5 MQF (Advanced Diploma) and also own a Level 4
MQF (Diploma) can be considered for credit transfer for a maximum of two (2)
academic years of Bachelor’s Degree programme or subject to any requirements
by the accreditation bodies.

(d) The credit transfer from a higher qualification to a programme at a lower


qualification is not permitted.

(2) Horizontal Credit Transfer

(i) The policy of horizontal credit transfer is credit transfer with grade value based on
the following conditions:

(a) The credit transfer is not permitted for students who has obtained a qualification
and would like to further their study for the second time at the same level with
the qualification that has been obtained.

(b) The credit transfer is permitted for students who are undergoing a programme and
would like to change to another programme in the same field with the programme
that they are currently enrolled in.

(c) There is no limit to the amount of credit transfer for change of programme in
the same university.
(d) The limit for credit transfer for students from other PPT to the University is
subject to student residency terms that is at least one (1) residential year or as
stipulated by the accreditation bodies as shown below :

And the residential period of the one (1) semester must involve teaching and learning
activities and excludes industrial training, mobility programmes or its equivalence.
(e) The credit transfer (including MPU) is not permitted for students who fail a
programme and wish to further their study in a different programme at the same level.
(f) The credit transfer can be considered for students who have withdrawn from their study
and then wish to resume their study but in a different programme at the same level.
(g) The maximum amount of horizontal credit transfer for MOOC shall not exceed 30% of
the total credits for graduation.

(ii) Students may apply for credit transfer for courses with the following conditions:

(a) The course is of a similar programme with a programme that will be followed; and
(b) The equivalence of course contents and learning outcomes must not be less
than 80%; and
(c) The horizontal credit transfer that has been approved will be considered in the
calculation of GPA and CGPA; and
(d) The course credit points for the former programme must be at least equivalent to the
value of the applied credit course. Two (2) or more courses can be combined to get
the equivalent credit point; and

(e) The courses applied for credit transfer must be from programmes that have been
accredited; and

(f) All courses that have been taken by students in other PPT during mobility
programme must have its credits transferred with the equivalent grade.

(iii) The maximum amount of credit transfer is as stipulated by the related accreditation
bodies.

(3) Course Exemption


(i) Course exemption will not cause students to obtain credits for courses that are
exempted.
(ii) If the course exemption causes the graduating credits to be insufficient, students
have to enroll in other courses to replace the exempted course.
(iii) International students must or can take MPU courses following current requirements.

(vi) Students who have experience that is equivalent to courses at the certificate or
Diploma level that are approved by the Senate, can be given course exemption.

7. GRADING SYSTEM

(1) Student performance for a particular course is indicated by the Performance Indicator
shown in Table II.

(2) Generally, the minimum passing grade for a particular course for grade value calculation
is ‘D’. However, the passing grade for a particular course is subject to the faculty with approval
from the Senate.

(3) The passing mark for a particular course based on learning outcomes is 50% or as
stipulated by the faculty.

(4) Other than the grades above, the following grades are also used:

(i) TS (Incomplete)
This grade is given to students who:

(a) are unable to sit for the final examination or do not manage to complete a
particular course due to illness as confirmed by a Medical Officer recognised by the
University; or
(b) do not complete Industrial Training Course; or

(c) are enrolled in a course that has a duration of more than one (1) semester; or

(d) other reasons accepted by the Senate.


Students with a TS grade are required to complete a particular course until
completion.

(ii) HS (Attendance only)


This grade is awarded to students who attend the Attendance Only Course (HS).

(iii) HL (Attend and pass)


This grade is awarded to students who pass the Compulsory Course (HW).

(iv) HG (Attend and fail)


This grade is given to students who fail the Compulsory Course (HW).

(v) TD (Withdrawal)
This grade is given to students who withdraw from a particular registered course.

PART VIII

8. ASSESSMENT

(1) Attendance

(i) Students are required to attend all lectures as stipulated by the University.

(ii) Regulation 8(1)(i) does not apply to courses with flexible mode that have been
approved by the Senate.

(iii) Regulation 8(1)(i) does not apply to students who have to participate in Special
Academic activity with Dean’s approval. Students are fully responsible of ensuring that
learning outcomes are achieved.

(2) Assessment Scheme

The assessments for every course can be done periodically and continuously in a particular
semester according to the methods set by the faculty and is subject to approval by the
Senate.

(3) Academic Dishonesty

Any forms of academic dishonesty is prohibited and students who are found guilty will be
taken disciplinary action under Regulations of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (Student
Discipline) 2009.
(4) Final Examination

(i) Students who are eligible, must sit for the final examination. Absence to the final examination
without acceptable excuse by the University may cause the students to be given a failed grade
(F).

(ii) Students must comply with the Final Examinations Regulations that have been set.
Disciplinary action will be taken against students who violate any instructions that are
enforced from time to time.

(iii) The Final Examinations Results will be announced in the duration that has been set
by the University.

(5) Special Examination

(i) A Special Examination can be held for the following cases:

(a) Category A
Students who are unable to sit for the final examination due to illness as confirmed
by a Medical Officer who is recognised by the University or the government; or

(b) Category B
Students in the final semester with CGPA ≥ 2.00 who will undergo Industrial
Training but have failed one (1) course that has components of the final
examination; or

(c) Category C
Students in the final semester with CGPA ≥ 2.00 for the purpose of graduation
but failed one (1) course that has components of the final examination; or

(d) Students with the death of their mother/father/ guardian/husband/ wife/child;


or

(e) Students who have to provide intensive care to their


mother/father/guardian/husband/wife/child who are extremely ill; or

(f) Other reasons that can be accepted by the University.

(ii) The special examination marks for cases in Category B and C will determine the course result,
either pass or fail. The coursework marks remain the same and results are not considered in
the calculation of grade value.
(iii) The special examination cannot be held for the following cases:

(a) Students who do not sit for the final examination without reasons that can be
accepted by the University; or
(b) Students who fail due to academic dishonesty are not eligible to sit for the final
examination for Category B and C.

(6) Review of the Final Examination Answer Scripts

Students who are not satisfied with the final result for a particular course can appeal for
a review of the final examination answer scripts within the duration set by the University.

9. ACADEMIC STANDING

(1) Academic Standing


(i) Students’ academic standing is determined by GPA and CGPA.
(ii) Students’ academic standing status is determined in every common semester
using CGPA as shown in Table III.

(iii) Students with GPA < 1.00 even though CGPA ≥ 1.67, with the Senate approval may:
(a) continue study; or
(b) be instructed to defer study to the next semester; or
(c) be terminated from study.

(iv) Students’ academic standing status for short semester is not determined although
GPA and CGPA are calculated as usual. Credits and point value obtained in short
semester will be considered for calculation of CGPA in the following semester.

(2) Improving Academic Achievement / Grade Improvement


(i) Students are given the opportunity to improve their grade for the courses after the
following requirements are met:
(a) Grade improvement is only for the courses with grade “C-” and below.
(b) Grade improvement for a particular course is only permitted once except if the first
attempt to improve the grade fails.
(c) The latest grade will be considered in the calculation of GPA and CGPA.
(d) The students’ duration of study has not ended.

(3) Status of Students’ Level of Study

The status of students’ level of study is determined by the faculty based on the total of credits
obtained.

PART X

10. DEAN’S LIST

(1) Students will be listed in Dean’s List after the following requirements are met:

(a) Obtained GPA ≥ 3.50 in a particular semester; and


(b) Registered for at least twelve (12) credit hours not including Compulsory Course
(HW).

PART XI

11. CONFERMENT OF FOUNDATION, PRE-DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND BACHELOR’S DEGREE

(1) Conferment Requirements

Students are only eligible to be conferred after the following requirements are met:

(a) fulfilled all graduating credits; and


(b) obtained CGPA ≥ 2.00; and
(c) fulfilled other stipulated requirements; and
(d) obtained the Senate’s approval.

(2) Deferment of Conferment Application

(i) Students are allowed to defer conferment within the duration stipulated by the University
for the purpose of improving grades for the courses that have been taken and awarded grade
C- and below.

(ii) The duration for deferment shall not exceed one (1) semester of academic study.
(iii) Students who apply to defer conferment have to register for courses that will be taken in
the following semester within the duration stipulated by the University.

(3) Conferment of Posthumous Award

(i) Conferment of Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree to students who pass away during their
study and are eligible to be awarded for the registered programme subject to the
Senate’s approval.

(ii) The requirements for Conferment of Posthumous Award:


(a) Obtained the status of Good Standing (KB); and

(b) Obtained at least 80% of the total graduating credits required and achieved a
satisfying level of learning outcomes.

(4) Conferment of Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree Class

(i) Conferment of Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree classes are shown in Table IV.

12. STUDY DEFERMENT

(1) Study deferment can be divided into two (2) categories which are:
(i) Study deferment that is considered in the calculation of duration of study with Dean’s
approval;

(a) Personal Problems


The period of deferment shall not exceed one (1) semester for every application with
Dean’s approval subject to the maximum duration of study.

(ii) Study deferment that is not considered in the calculation of duration of study with Dean’s
approval;

(a) Special Academic Activity (Specific)


The period of deferment shall not exceed one (1) academic year either one (1)
semester or two (2) consecutive semesters; or

(b) Special Academic Activity (General)


The period of deferment shall not exceed one (1) semester throughout study; or

(c) Health
The period of deferment shall not exceed one (1) academic year.

(iii) The Senate’s approval is required if the application exceeds the period stipulated.

(2) For health cases, the Senate has the right to decide whether students are permitted to continue their
study or terminated based on recommendation by the University’s Medical
Officer.

PART XIII

13. RE-REGISTRATION

(1) The Senate may consider students who have failed in the first semester of their first year
to re-register (DS) if the students submit their application to the faculty.
(2) DS students are considered to have used one (1) semester of their duration of stud y.
(3) Students with a Fail to Re-register Standing (KGDS) will begin study like a new Student
but credit transfer approved by the Senate will be included.
(4) DS students will be terminated from study if they fail to obtain GPA > 2.00 in the first
semester of the repeated study.
(5) Senior students who were terminated needs to re-register.

14. CHANGE OF STUDY PROGRAMME

Students are not permitted to apply for change of study programme except with the Senate’s
approval.

PART XV

15. GENERAL STATUTE

(1) All the implementation methods recorded in the Academic Regulations and Guidelines must
be adhered to. The Senate reserves the right to make changes to this Academic Regulations from
time to time when the need arises.

(2) Students are subject to University and University College Act (1971), Universiti Malaysia Pahang
Methods (Students Discipline 2009) and Student Fees Payment Regulations and all regulations
enforced at the University from time to time.
