Each enclosure is designed to surround the package components and rest on the skid base frame. Each enclosure has a series of sealed, yet removable, panels and hinged doors for easy access to the package components. On generator packages, the engine and generator are typically separated by an internal enclosure wall to form separate compartments. The enclosure has a forced air ventilation system with louvered shutters at both the inlet and outlet ventilation openings. Where separate compartments for the engine and generator exist, each compartment will have its own dedicated enclosure fan and filtration. The enclosure vent fans provide a slight positive or negative pressure condition based upon the area classification for the installed package. Ventilation System Major Component Lifting Devices Major Component Lifting Devices Solar offers an optional lifting kit that can be attached directly onto the enclosure. Using a series of support railing and trolley hoists, this engineered structure allows for easy and safe removal and replacement of major package components, such as the engine, generator, gearbox, and large pumps or motors. Enclosure Protective Devices Enclosure Protective Devices Within the enclosure there are a series of protective devices that monitor and protect the package components, including: . Fire Sensors|are positioned at strategic locations to monitor the engine and supports systems to detect any flame sources. . [Gas Detectors]are mounted at the enclosure inlet or outlet ventilation locations to determine if there are any flammable vapors entering or leaving the package enclosure Enclosure Protective Devices . Thermal Detectorsjare installed at strategic locations to monitor for excess heat or rapid increases in temperatures that would indicate a fire. - Fire Suppression|Discharge Nozzles are connected to a distribution network of piping and the bottled fire-suppressing agent. This fire system is used to flood the enclosure to extinguish any fires or flame sources. Enclosure Protective Devices THERMAL DETECTOR o GAS DETECTOR FIRE SUPPRESSANT DISCHARGE NOZZLE Air Inlet System Air Inlet System Basics Air Inlet System Basics An array of air inlet filters are installed in a metal housing connected to the ductwork assembly leading to the engine air intake. These filters remove any airborne dirt, dust, or debris to ensure the engine aerodynamic components do not become contaminated, leading to a reduction in performance. In some applications, pre-filtering devices are added to remove leaves, insects, and weather-related moisture. As an option, many units are equipped with a self-cleaning air manifold. When needed, pressurized air is reverse-fed into the filtering elements to remove built-up contamination. A differential pressure monitoring system is also installed to automatically cycle the self-cleaning system as well as alert the operator when the filters need additional servicing. In addition, a rain stack can be added to prevent rainwater from collecting in the engine exhaust system when the unit is not running. sine anstack — exaust Stencer exaust Sttlone I a Ter Typical Exhaust Fire and Gas System Basics The fire and gas system monitors and protects the interior of the enclosure. It combines fire and heat detection, gas detection, agent release, and visual and audible alarms connected together on a local operating network loop. ‘Turbomachinery Package ~ TorFromCustomer Stoeniecy Sym | a toy = { i 70. 70. When the switch is in the INHIBIT position, it interrupts automatic operation of the fire suppression system. When armed, with the FIRE SYSTEM AUTO/INHIBIT Keyswitch in the AUTO position, normal activation is controlled by the controller. The RELEASE pushbutton provides emergency engine shutdown and release of the fire extinguishing agent. Refer to the Systems Operator's Guide and Supplementary Data of this manual set for detailed information. Basics When a fire is detected, the following events occur: 1. Electrical equipment (Division 1 or 2, as applicable) deenergizes. Enclosure ventilation fan stops. Dampers close. Fire extinguishing agent releases. as © N Turbine shuts down (lockout shutdown). Major Components: Flame Detectors FLAME DETECTOR The flame detector contains an multispectrum infrared (IR) sensor module and control circuitry in an explosion proof housing. The detector is equipped with automatic and manual optical integrity (oi) test capability. A detector status indicator light is mounted next to the detector's viewing window. Refer to Table 7.2.1 for IR flame detector status indications. srt cotonee Turpomaehinery Package —" a | a = co ~e}- | ==, : 7, = — bac Bun cement ona L| Hgesceroe, |W inenim | Major Components: Flame Detectors Table 7.2.1 IR Flame Detector Status Indications ‘Stat LED Indication Power OniNormal with automatic of selected {no fault or fire alarm) Fault (General) Medium Sensitivity High Sensitivity ‘Steady Red Major Components: Thermal Detectors THERMAL DETECTOR The thermal detector senses excessive heat in the interior of the enclosure. The sensing f the detector is in a stainless steel shell. The detector contacts close at 325°F Major Components: Gas Detectors GAS DETECTOR The Pointwatch Eclipse™ Model PIRECL is an infrared absorption-type, gas detector. The detector provides continuous monitoring of combustible hydrocarbon gas concentrations. The unit has a status indication LED, internal magnetic calibration switch, and an external calibration line. Flammable hydrocarbon gases enter the sensor and into the internal measurement chamber that is illuminated by an infrared (IR) source. As the IR passes through the gas within the chamber, certain IR wavelengths are absorbed by the gas, while other IR wavelengths are not. The amount of IR absorption is determined by the concentration of the hydrocarbon gas. A pair of optical detectors and associated electronics measure the absorption. The change in intensity of the absorbed light (active signal) is measured relative to the intensity of light at a non-absorbed wavelength. The microprocessor computes the gas concentration and converts the value into a 4 to 20 mmilliampere current output signal, which is then communicated to external control and annunciation systems.
