Why not just do eAWB and Cargo XML?
• Year 2000 technologies
• (pre-Amazon, pre-Google, pre-Facebook, pre-iPhone)
• eAWB, Cargo XML and Cargo IMP do not scale well
• every connection requires investment
• Need message service providers
• hard to switch provider. Volume data constraints due to cost.
• Little innovation
• beyond moving from paper to electronic documents
• CXML addresses few technical limitations of CIMP but is still a
messaging standard based on the document.

Critical Milestone
• 1 October 2024: CXML and CIMP standards will be put in containment.
Only changes in the CXML schemas to comply with regulatory
requirements will be supported until 1 January 2026;
• 1 January 2026: the ONE Record standard is the only IATA effective
data exchange standard for the air cargo industry.

How does it work?
How does ONE Record work?
• Direct connectivity
• Common vocabulary and
language
• Data sharing via APIs
• Cyber secure

“It’s just like the web, except that

we replace websites & people by
machines & algorithms so that
people can focus on business
rather than documents and
processes”

ONE Record: Internet of Logistics

Internet of Logistics – exchange logistics data over the internet, using ONE Record protocols
ONE Record
• End to end data visibility and transparency
• extensive stakeholder community
• Match today’s state of technology
• Based on API and JSON technology
• Get ready for 2030 technology
• Based on semantic web technologies
• Create digital competence
• Webinars, materials, hackathons, conferences, skills
• Set standards
• Lead the EU, cooperate with the UN, work with China and US

ONE Record standard
ONE Record provides the air cargo industry with a standard data structure
for data exchange using
• Data model specification provides the air cargo industry with a standard
data structure for data exchange using JSON-LD that facilitates data
integration with existing and new data services;
• API specification specifies the interface and interaction of the web API or
Application Programming Interface that allows airlines and their partners
to connect their system directly using best-in-class web technologies;
• Security specification uses an industrywide and federated trust network
to manage the identification and authentication of data-sharing systems
and ensures data privacy and confidentiality for all parties.
