CHAPTER 2 : LESSON 4 ACTIVITY

Who Is a Filipino?
Cut out pictures or illustrations from magazines and newspapers that show what being a Filipino is about.
Paste them below.

Analysis
Answer the questions below in relation to what you have posted in the previous activity.

1. How do the pictures remind you of your being a Filipino?

 It reminds me of friendliness, optimism, and helpfulness, cheerful, respectful, and loving to my elders and to my fellow Filipinos/Filipinos. It
also reminds me of having a characteristic of us being religious, generous and helpful towards other people. And that we are more family
oriented. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that what we have in us as “Filipinos/Filipinas” is different than other nations because it was
already imprinted to us in an early stage of birth through our culture and traditions, which shows our strength in addressing life whether in
up-or-down situations, we strive to get through it.

2. Are you proud of being a Filipino? Why and why not?

 Anyone who was born in the Philippines, including myself, will be proud of our heritage for the rest of our lives. When we compare Filipino
characteristics, practices, culture, and traditions to those of other nationalities, we can see that each country has its own set of values
and stereotypes, and the Philippines is no exception. We Filipinos are adamant that our country has the best values in the world.
Despite being colonized by several countries, many of our forefathers' fundamental principles have survived and are revered today.
Filipinos are not without flaws, but we have incredible qualities that we should all be proud of. Even people not of Filipino ancestry would
say they are proud, not because they want to be called one, but because they admire personalities who we are.

And Yes, I am glad to be a Filipino because Filipinos are resilient and powerful. Filipinos manage to emerge strong and faithful in the face
of adversity and adversity. Filipinos are fighters because they never give up on a battle and, if they do, they always fight well. Another is we
Filipinos are the friendliest people on the planet; we accommodate and serve our tourists as well as we can. We are also beloved and the
kindest people on the planet. All in all, it is great to be called a Filipino because we never waver in any type of challenge that may be
thrown at us, and that we support each other in any way we can.

3.Imagine that you were of a different nationality. What would change in you aside from your citizenship and
origin?
 If I were born in a different nationality, I would say that a lot of things will change from the current Filipina me, but I would like to reiterate
these three major points: culture, religion and political beliefs. First is culture, culture is an important piece to mold what and who we are
now, and since in every country there are different cultures, I would definitely know that this would change too. For once the culture that we
have grown up in has changed, our perspective in life will also change. It’s a domino effect. For example, in the Philippines when we were
younger, we used to play outdoor games since technology is not yet advanced, thus we became athletic, meanwhile in other countries
technology could be advanced and thus, we’ll grow up playing video games, making us stay inside the house more.

4. How extensive are the effects of being Filipino in your selfhood?

Very extensive, because I felt the so-called Filipino spirit coursing through my veins as I grew older. With all of my fellow Filipinos
Achievements and perseverance throughout the years. I must admit that I am proud to be Filipino and myself. Filipino culture, customs,
traditions, and ideals inspired me daily. The most important reason for who I am today is that I Am Filipino because my parents, guardians
and my other relatives are Filipinos. I have taken on Filipino traits and behaviors such as respect, hospitality, cheerfulness, and family
orientation. I'd be rude and value family less than other nationalities if I wasn't Filipino.

Application and Assesment

1. Make an acrostic below which will describe you in relation to your being a Filipino.

F – ighter to raise our country, and always be

I – ndustrious to protect every individual and encourage them to be
L– ovable, loyal to serve and valued other people

I – n order to achieve peace, unity and love
N – ot only for my sake, but also for my constituents
O – f course, I will never forget being optimistic, hospitable, being hard working, and most especially is being respectful for
which we filipinos are known for.

2. Discuss how being a Filipino affects your “self.” How can becoming a better Filipino influence your duty to
becoming a better version of yourself?
 Huge influence of being Filipino is the culture. Being a Filipino means being a part of a wonderful culture. A culture filled with amazing
foods, beautiful languages and having a great homeland to go to, and always remember that also being a Filipino affects us in many ways.
Beyond resilience, adaptability and having courage to face very difficult times, us Filipinos have shown that we are also most
compassionate, selflessly eager and always ready to help anybody in need. We already know and are applying even though we live in
other places or countries. It is what makes us unique from other people, we are born with a rich culture and tradition that runs deep in our
Filipino blood. The Filipino have a bad meaning for others because it doesn't really make it easy for others to define the Filipinos, even
though we have a problem, it makes all Filipinos smile. The small thing can affect us because we a Philippines have a strong faith in God
in our path, so it is not very easy to overcome if we become the better version of ourselves

So without further ado, here are few things we can do to become responsible Filipino citizens.

 Follow traffic rules.

 Be punctual and do not procrastinate.
 Ask for a BIR official receipt.
 Pay your tax.
 Be a responsible parent.
 Love your husband or wife.
 Conserve water and energy.
 Protect our environment.

But, as a soldier or a Filipino citizen who belongs to our country, which is the Philippines, always keep in mind that through hard times and
good times we just have a strong faith and sense of humor because this will help us a lot to overcome the obstacles that we face. It means
loving each other, despite flaws and oddities. We always love whoever comes our way. We spread positive vibes and smiles.

CHAPTER 2 : LESSON 5 ACTIVITY

Three Facts, One Fiction

Construct four sentences that should start with “I am______________.” Three of the four sentences should be
true about yourself. You can talk about your characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, accomplishments,
personalities, and behavior. One statement should be a lie—something that you just made up about yourself.

1. I am a good listener

2. I am Introvert

3. I am living in a cringe house

4. I am good in cooking

Analysis
Applying the same activity in the virtual world or cyberworld, how do people portray themselves online? What
are the things that you would want to post/share online? What are the things you want others to share online?

 I think, People portray themselves differently online or on various social media platforms for certain reasons. First is to show to his/her
audiences the person that they want to know in terms of life background, social status, and so on. People tend to portray themselves by
making good images like flexing. They tend to create their ideal self to please the people in social media where it created a standard. It is
kind of toxic where we are dependent on what people in social media comment on, which makes us low in self esteem.

 I like to post/share everything that people want to see me in a good way. I just fantasize if the people who see me online are going to love
me and not hate me because of who I am. I want to share with them the real me, and not just what I showed on the internet or any social
media platforms.

Application and Assesment

1. Creative work - Form groups with three to four members. In an illustration board, make a slogan or a
poster about becoming a responsible Internet user. Use coloring materials to improve your output.
Share your output in class and record the comments/reactions of your classmates.
