Greenwood Little League Overcomes Challenge and Delivers Positive Change

The New Improvements to the Ballpark

GREENWOOD, In. — July 13, 2023 — The Leadership Johnson Community (LJC) is proud to
announce the completion of a project that changed the Greenwood Little League (GLL) forever.

Overcoming initial weather-related obstacles, the LJC team rallied together to assist the team in
various facility repairs and beautification efforts. On April 6, the community was able to install
bike racks, laid sand, gravel, and even painted dugout bleachers to give them a like-new feel.
Additionally, the LJC planted flowers, mulched around the fields, trimmed grass and handed out
500 goodie bags to the Little Leaguers to show their love and support. Baseball themed treats
were included and additional coupons from restaurants wanting to show their gratitude.

Parents of the players said, “We are so incredibly thankful for all that LJC has done for us. The
lives of these players are going to change drastically once they see the continuous
improvements made to help their game,”.

Luckily, the Greenwood Little League project made its way to the surface. Originally, the LJC had
chosen a different non-profit organization as their project. However, due to unforeseen
circumstances, the program recommended a change, and the little league team embraced the
new challenge with open arms.

The Greenwood Little League project outweighed every other project consideration with a
landslide in votes.

Greenwood Little League, affiliated with Little League International since 1956, provides kids
aged 4-16 a unique baseball program. They are taught basic athletic skills, leadership,
teamwork and respect as young players. The league owns six diamonds that were all
constructed around its first opening in 1956, hence the renovations and updates that the
project was able to resolve.

As many improvements were created by the LJC team, they are still looking to update and
replace the dugouts and concession stands. With your help, the GLL could receive grants to
make this magic happen, and change the Little Leaguers lives forever. Through their efforts, the
project team not only made a positive impact on downtown Greenwood, but also touched
many lives of children, parents and volunteers that were behind this program.
