Film Analysis (Himala)

Lighting and sound are important elements in a film. The performance of actors is not
enough even if they are well-known actors. Lighting and sound are used to strengthen the given
film in a way it enhances every scene. Of course, to strengthen the film, you also need to use the
right lighting and sounding just like for example when you use the right lighting, it can help with
the practicalities of the film, and it can add up more depth and interest in every scene that will be
shot. Moreover, sounds are used in order to strengthen the storytelling of the film because it gives
rise to our emotions, help us establish the settings, and help the audience to build up their
excitement and atmosphere. With, lighting and sound strengthen the film by highlighting every
scene, building the atmosphere for the audience (the rise and fall of atmosphere/hype), and
producing a quality film.

In the scene where Elsa is having a vision, the lighting was dark wherein you can only see
her eyes staring into the sky, it was telling us there was no sun and then when she’s done with her
vision it was already morning (the lighting was a low quality it was no eclipse). while the sound
was telling us that she was having a vision and it is a mystery. The lighting and sound in Nimia's
cabaret scenes tell us the scene is for adults and something bad is happening like the way his suitor
wants to have sex with her. The lighting was dark, so it was telling us that it is rape or an act of
aggressiveness. In depicting deaths, they have used lighting and sound to show us grief like how
they make the background sound silent where you can only hear the crying.
