PRINTING AND ASSEMBLING
PRINTING:
To check if the pattern is being printed to scale print just the first
page and measure the Test Square. If the sizes correspond you’re
good to go.
You can find a table with the measurements you need to cut for the
skirt pattern pieces on the printed pattern.
The seam allowance on this pattern is 1 cm/3/8” and it’s already included in the pattern pieces.
Interface the Side/Back Lining, Center Lining and Lower Shell patterm pieces.
1 Fold the adjustable straps and adjustable strap loops lenghtwise and sew. Cut the excess
fabric in the seam allowance and turn them inside out.

(4)
3 Sew two lines of basting stitches on each edge of the gathered strip pattern piece and
gather.
6 Pin the center lining pattern piece to the side/back pattern piece right sides facing and sew.
Pin the remaining side back piece to the other side of the center lining piece right sides facing
and sew.
7 Pin the adjustable straps to the lining piece matching the notches. Make sure that the straps
aren’t twisted.
10 Finish the raw edges of the skirt pieces and pocket pieces using either an overlocking
stitch or a zig zag stitch.
13 Pin the front skirt piece to the back skirt pieces right sides facing and sew the side seams.
Start at the top, once you reach the pocket pivot and sew around the pocket. Then, once you
reach the end of the pocket pivot again and sew the rest of the side seam.
16 Press the seam you’ve sewn to attach the skirt to the bodice towards the top.
24 To hem the skirt fold the edge 1 cm towards the wrong side of the fabric and then 3 cm in the
same direction. And sew.
Your Matilda dress is done. Hope you had fun making it!
