Reflection Paper

Studying American history has been a journey I have made to explore

the many events, people, and ideas that shape our country. At the start of this

class, I wrote down what I truly wanted to gain from attending. So, the main

objective of this Reflection Paper is to analyze both the strengths and

weaknesses of my assignment. While providing a view of how well I

understood the topics at hand and the process carried out by my research and

overall learning experience.

Throughout my time taking American History, I have consistently

found that being in the presence of classmates and teachers is where I can

truely thrive as a student. The classroom had a diverse range of perspectives

and personalities, which transformed that space for learning that goes beyond

the use of textbooks. I have learned so much and gained a better

understanding of the American History and found very the guy sitting behind

me to have some incredible stories. I appreciate everyone who was in that

class, although mostly very quiet classmates. My teacher was very pro-active

and always showed a great attitude, which is something rare to find these

days and I appreciate that opportunity.

A thorough study is the foundation of any successful history essay or

project to accurately tell the story. I spent considerable time researching

primary and secondary sources about the selected topic in my essays. This

gave me an overview of the historical background, key figures, and

aftereffects of the particular situation. I wanted to prove that this essay was

One-Hundred percent accurate and told in a fluent matter.

In explaining and writing about historical experiences to the reader,

writing skills play an important role. I've sharpened my ability to

communicate complicated ideas in a clear and precise way. I wanted to make

my essay accessible to a broad audience through well-structured paragraphs

and coherent arguments that if someone was not familiar with it would at

least be hit with a brief introduction on the topic.

It was necessary to consider all sides of American history in order to

get a good idea of the complexity of US history. I've been very careful to

ensure my Essays reflect the views and experiences that either side could

have had. This brought the narrative to life and demonstrated a broader

understanding of historical events.

The use of my time management has been one of the problems I've

encountered. It turned out that it was more difficult than expected to shove
every quiz, essay, and the final into one day. As a result, some sections were

rushed, which could have had an impact on my work ethic, my ability to

deliver quality work and to receive better scores if I were not rushed.

It also occurred to me as I worked on this essay that, in doing so, I was

accidentally placing more emphasis on certain assignments and giving a lack

of quality. Mainly a driving factor of my Time management skills, this rabbit

hole that I have placed myself in leaves my work feeling rushed. A distorted

focus like that can lead to an unbalanced of motivation to keep me from

delivering a strong paper.

Attending class is a fundamental step in pursuing a successful academic

career and I believe I could have done better. As I reflect on not only my

actions on Canvas or on my own time, I recognize a theme that I caught on

attending class. While without a shadow of a doubt, I have gained valuable

knowledge attending those few classes I attended, I was just not fully

committed. With some of the blame going into the way, I stay up all night and

have an unhealthy sleep schedule.

I am aware that personal biases can subtly influence the interpretation

of historical events, despite my efforts to see how it really was back in that

time. It is important to bear in mind that it was difficult to achieve a complete

unbiased view whether it came to slavery, racism, and many other acts that

the United States have commited. And seeing how I can better put myself in

their situation and really grasp what it really was like at the time is difficult to

say the least.

My American History journey was a culmination of extensive research,

critical analysis, and a genuine passion for understanding the unique past of

the United States. A complete examination of my time in American History

was displayed by the strengths that I mentioned, including deep research, the

drive to prove that I am right, and the motivation to stay true to history. While

in my opinion my strengths are clouded by the weaknesses that I showed over

a couple of months attending American History. But addressing these

weaknesses and building on my strengths is how I can better myself as a

better student in the future.
