Qurbani is a practice commanded by Allah (SWT): “So turn in prayer towards your Lord and sacrifice (animals)”. The days
of Qurbani are the 10th, 11th and 12th of Dhul Hijjah. The first day is better than the second and the second better than
the last. Time for Qurbani: In towns and cities where Jum’ah and Eid are performed, Qurbani is not permissible before the
Eid salaah. Qurbani time commences after Eid salaah on 10th Dhul Hijjah until before sunset on 12th Dhul Hijjah. Every
adult Muslim, male or female, who owns 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent in money, personal ornaments, stock-in-
trade or any other form of wealth which is surplus to his basic needs, is under an obligation to offer a Qurbani. Each adult
member of a family who owns the above mentioned amount must perform his own Qurbani separately. If the husband
owns the required quantity, but the wife does not, the Qurbani is obligatory on the husband only and vice-versa. If both of
them have the prescribed amount of wealth, both should perform Qurbani separately. If the adult children live with their
parents, Qurbani is obligatory on each one of them possessing the prescribed amount.
Note: Late Jum'a Prayer takes place in the upstairs prayer hall of the Masjid at 4.15pm throughout summer.
