According to Mattel (2023),
every year or every decade,
Barbie's creators change her
style based on the worldly
trends at that time, including
the clothes that women wear,
famous people, and the story
of the people (historically).
This Barbie has a missing past, and her
style is the clue for us to find her story
and the world she lived in.

Barbie's fashion represents journalists in

different decades.

All dolled up, the participants will have

to match her clothing to her background,
story, and/or context.
For our group, since our topic is
the 'Rise of Online Journalism' we'll
provide a dress-up game
PowerPoint presentation and a list
of the context based on the
timeline of journalism.

Also, we have to do research on

the fits based on a specific year.
The class will be divided into three (3) teams.

They will be assigned a Barbie with their own clothing.

They will have to accurately choose from the 3 lists or choices of context
or background based on the clothing of their assigned Barbie.

After giving them some time (15 minutes), they'll share their own
Barbie's fashion style and her story.
LIST OF
BARBIES
"Barbie in the 1440s"

I'm an aspiring journalist and my father works at a printing press company. The invention of the printing press
drastically changed the scope and audience of the newspaper, opening the door for modern journalism!

"Barbiera Walters" (journalist Barbara Walters)

I always have a huge recorder with me, along with my favorite journal. I was only allowed to record fashion, but I really
wanted to try covering politics and gain exposure as a journalist. There weren't as many female reporters in my era, but
I was able to break through the glass ceiling and become one of The Today Show's hosts, tackling socio-political issues
and meeting famous figures like Dolly Parton!

"Gen Z Barbie"

Hi, I'm Barbie! I live in New York, and I'm a journalist. With my iPhone, I can do interviews anytime, anywhere! I also
have a MoJo bag around me, which allows me to gather, shoot, do a live broadcast, edit, and share the news.
Nowadays, with just one click, news can be sent to the newsroom or shared directly on social media by my Mojo
backpack!
