Proposal for Odisha Fintech Hackathon

Introduction:
Financial technology is bringing in revolutionary changes in every space and so is Odisha being
one of the top contributors, developing and creating a space for the young minds to inculcate
and induce the growing technology. Keeping in mind the advancing technology, we are aiming to
conduct a “ODISHA FINTECH HACKATHON-2023”- an event that will empower and inspire
young minds to explore the exciting world of financial technology that will in a way aim at
helping Odisha tackle some of it’s real time problems. This event will help revolutionize the
financial services industry in Odisha and unlock a world of opportunities for young and aspiring
minds with a knack for the field in the future. The event is proposed to be organized on
14/05/2023 .

Event Objective:
The Odisha Fintech Hackathon is an event that aims at revolutionizing the fintech industry in the
state by bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop innovative solutions.
The objective of the event is to encourage the use of technology to enhance financial services,
stimulate entrepreneurship, and provide a forum for networking and collaboration. The
hackathon provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their skills, learn from industry
experts, and create solutions that can make a real difference in the lives of people in Odisha
and beyond.

The event will foster an environment of creativity and innovation where participants can explore
new ideas and collaborate with other professionals to bring their concepts to life. The Odisha
Fintech Hackathon is an opportunity to push the boundaries of the fintech industry and solve
some of its most pressing challenges. Through this event, we hope to catalyze the growth of the
fintech ecosystem in Odisha and set a precedent for future innovation in the region.

Eligibility Criteria:
● The Odisha Fintech Hackathon is open to all individuals who are passionate about
fintech, including developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and students.
● Participants must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the event.
● Participants will be allowed to form teams of minimum 2 members to maximum 4
members in a single team.
● The team should have at least one member who is a coder/developer.
● Participants will have to provide a working model of their solution in the course of the
hackathon.
● The hackathon provides an opportunity for participants to collaborate and develop
innovative solutions.

Event Format:
● The Odisha Fintech Hackathon is a physical event that promises to be exciting and
provides a platform for fintech enthusiasts.
● The event is a one-day affair and will feature ideation and development sessions,
mentorship, and pitch presentations.
● Participants are required to form teams of up to 4 members and will have access to
APIs, datasets, and mentorship from industry experts.
● The hackathon will focus on key areas such as financial inclusion, digital payments,
fraud detection and prevention, lending and credit, and wealth management and
investments.
● The event provides a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and
creativity, and to network with other fintech enthusiasts and industry professionals.
● Participants will have the chance to present their solutions to a panel of judges, who
will select the winning solutions based on their innovation, viability, and potential impact
on the fintech industry.

SOP:
To ensure the smooth running of the Odisha Fintech Hackathon, the following standard
operating procedures (SOPs) will be put in place:

● Registration: Participants will be required to register for the event online, providing
basic information such as their name, email address, and phone number. Participants
will also be required to provide information about their skills and expertise, and will be
asked to select the theme they wish to work on.
● Team Formation: Participants will be required to form teams of up to 4 members and a
minimum of 2 members either before the event or during the event. Teams will be formed
based on participant interests, skills, and expertise.
● Ideation and Development: Participants will be provided with access to a range of
resources, including APIs, datasets, and mentorship from industry experts. Participants
will be required to develop solutions that address one or more problem statements. Also
teams will be assigned with mentors, who would be industry experts that would help
them in bringing out the best in them.
Themes:
Participants will be required to develop solutions that address one or more of the following
themes:

● Financial Inclusion: This refers to the process of ensuring that all individuals and
businesses have access to affordable and appropriate financial products and services.
Financial inclusion is essential for promoting economic growth, reducing poverty, and
building more resilient communities.
● Digital Payments: This refers to the process of ensuring that all individuals and
businesses have access to affordable and appropriate financial products and services.

● Fraud Detection and Prevention: This refers to the use of digital technology to facilitate
payments and financial transactions. Digital payments have become increasingly popular
in recent years, with the proliferation of mobile devices and the internet. Digital payment
solutions are fast, secure, and convenient, and they offer several benefits over traditional
payment methods.
● Lending and Credit: This refers to the process of providing loans and credit to
individuals and businesses. Lending and credit are essential for promoting economic
growth and development, as they enable businesses to invest and expand, and
individuals to access finance for education, housing, and other essential needs.
● Wealth Management and Investments:This refers to the management of wealth and
investments, including the allocation of assets, investment strategies, and risk
management. Wealth management and investments are essential for individuals and
businesses looking to grow and preserve their wealth over the long term, and they
require expertise and specialized knowledge.

Judgment:
At the end of the event, each team will be required to present their solution to a panel of judges,
who will evaluate the solutions based on a range of criteria, including innovation, feasibility,
scalability, and impact.

The judging panel will consist of experts in the relevant fields, including Google employees and
industry professionals. The judges will evaluate each submission based on the following criteria:

● Innovation: How unique and creative is the solution? Does it solve a real-world
problem?
● Implementation: How well has the solution been implemented using Google's
technologies? Is it scalable, reliable, and efficient?
Prizes:
Cash prizes and other rewards will be awarded to the top three teams, as follows:

Winning Team Will get : Rs. 50,000

Cloud Credits : Rs 2,40,000
