DAILY LESSON PLAN

EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE
GRADE 12
CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners can demonstrate an understanding of:
 The subsystems (geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere) that make up
the Earth.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners shall be able to:
 Conduct a survey to assess the possible geologic/ hydrometeorological hazards that
your community may experience.
COMPETENCY STANDARD:
I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of one-hour lesson, the students should be able to:
 Determine the four subsystems of the Earth;
 Describe the characteristics of each subsystem;
 Trace the flow of matter and energy in the Earth’s subsystems; and
 Express one’s internalized role as steward of the four subsystems concerning
the flow of matter and energy.
(S11/12ES-Ia-e-4)
 Create a creative paper about the alarming issue of the mother earth.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a.) Title: ORIGIN AND STRUCTURE OF THE EARTH
 Subsystem of the planet earth
b.) References: Earth and Life Science/ MELCS

c.) Materials:
 Power point presentation, pictures of different subsystem.
III. PROCEDURES:
A. Preparation
a.) Routinary Activities:
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Assignment
 Review
b.) Motivation
 The teacher will asked to arrange the “JUMBLED LETTERS” about
the different subsystem of the planet earth. After that, each students
will try to describe those words.
B. Presentation (Present lesson of the day)
The teacher will present the lesson of the day and post the days objectives. The
teacher should:
 Define the concept of the earth subsystem.
 Explain that the Earth consists of four subsystems, across whose
boundaries matter and energy flow. S11/12ES-Ia-e- 4
 Relate the importance of understanding different subsystem in our
daily living.
 Create a creative paper about the alarming issue of the mother earth.
D. Activity
Direction: Read the situation and follow the instructions, after that list down the
terms that are used in the statement that reflects to what made up the Earth.
Categorize them using the table below. Write your answer on your intermediate paper.
Situation: Imagine walking along a rocky coast as a storm blows in from the sea. The
wind whips the ocean into whitecaps, and waves crash onto the shore. Before you
have time to escape, blowing spray has soaked your clothes. A hard rain begins as you
scrambled over the rocks to your car. During the adventure, you have observed the
spheres of the Earth.
Air Water Land With Life

E. Analysis
 What are the different subsystem of the planet earth?
 What are your basis in identifying components earth subsystem?
 Why is it important to understand the different subsystem of the planet earth in
our daily living?
F. Abstraction
 The teacher discuss the different subsystem of the planet earth.
 The students can describe things that he/she encountered in the environment.
 The students will make a conclusion about their observation.
 The students can create their own interpretation about the short quotation of
the planet earth.
G. Application (Critique paper)
Direction: Give your own interpretation about the short quotation below. Write your
answer on an separate sheet of paper.

“The love for God is the love

to protect the
environment”

H. Generalization
 What are the different subsystem of the planet earth?
 How do these subsystem differ to each other?
 In your own words, what do you think is the importance of understanding
earth subsystem in our daily living?
IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Choose the letter of the best answer. Write the chosen letter on a separate sheet of
paper.
