METHOD STATEMENT FOR THE DEMOLITION WORK TO

EXISTING BUILDING AT 465&467 GEYLANG ROAD

1. Danger warning sign-boards should be installed at conspicuous


position around demolition site perimeter.

2. Before demolition works commence, all water supplies, electricity cables


and other services to the premises are to be disconnected.

3. Existing doors and windows shall be dismantled and disposed of.

4. The existing structure will be demolished by a hydraulic crusher-


mounted onto SK07 or equivalent excavator machine. The progress
begins from top to bottom, starting from roof beams & slabs, followed by
typical column, slab & beam. The process is to repeat bay by bay.

5. Existing foundations and ground beam/slab shall be exposed and


crushed by SK07 or equivalent excavator machine.

6. Crusher mounted on excavator resting on firmed solid ground will break


the demolished R.C. beams, columns, slabs, into smaller sections for
convenient disposal. Localized hacking of smaller structures to be carried
out manually by workers.

7. During demolition, continuous inspection shall be made as work progress


to detect any hazards affecting safety of workmen resulting from weak-
ened or overloaded floors or loosened materials. Immediate steps shall
be taken to rectify the defective weakness to prevent the possibility of
premature or unplanned collapse of any part of building.

8. To minimise nuisance dust from generating, spray water continuously


at the contact areas between the concrete structure and the
crusher/breaker.

9. All debris and rubbish shall be disposed and removed from site.

10. Backfill and level the ground to gradually slope towards the roadside drain.

11. All demolition works shall be carried out in accordance with Code of Practice 55
557:2010
