Animals

Animals are a diverse group of living organisms that inhabit our planet Earth. They are an
essential part of the Earth's ecosystem and come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and
habitats. From the microscopic to the gigantic, animals play crucial roles in maintaining the
balance of nature and contributing to the overall biodiversity of our planet.

Animals are classified into various categories based on their characteristics,

behaviors, and evolutionary history. The classification system, known as taxonomy,
categorizes animals into groups such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and
fish. Each of these major groups is further subdivided into smaller categories.

Mammals: Mammals are characterized by features such as hair or fur, mammary

glands that produce milk for their young, and a four-chambered heart. Humans,
dogs, cats, and whales are examples of mammals.

Birds: Birds are known for their feathers, beaks, and ability to fly. They lay eggs and
are warm-blooded. Examples of birds include eagles, sparrows, penguins, and
ostriches.

Reptiles: Reptiles are cold-blooded vertebrates that typically have scales and lay
eggs. Snakes, lizards, turtles, and crocodiles are common examples of reptiles.

Amphibians: Amphibians are vertebrates that typically have a moist, permeable skin
and undergo metamorphosis from aquatic larvae to terrestrial adults. Frogs, toads,
salamanders, and newts are amphibians.

Fish: Fish are aquatic vertebrates with gills and fins. They come in various shapes and
sizes, from tiny minnows to enormous sharks. Goldfish, salmon, and clownfish are
examples of fish.
