Background

Sometimes we are faced with difficult decisions to make.Mathematical skills can be applied to solve such
problems . For example Mr Shoko a poultry farmer keeps chickens and turkeys on his plot.He wants to
sell some of his stock to raise money to buy feeds. He intends to sell at least 5 chickens and not more
than 8 turkeys. The number of turkeys he wants to sell should be equal to or more than the number of
chickens he wishes to sell. A chicken cost 6 dollars and a turkey cost 8 dollars .Let X be the number of
chickens and Y be the number of turkeys .How many of each does he sell to get the minimum amount.
