6
J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
Reinforcement shall be delivered at project yard and then we start the cut
and bend by the approved shop drawing and bar bending it may be cold-
bent at the site. No re-bending allowed.
Storage of reinforcement shall be on suitable structures/supports above
the ground surface to prevent damage and accumulation of dirt, rust and
other deleterious matter & properly covered with tarpaulin or polythene
sheet reasonably.
The Contractor shall prepare the BBS schedules based on shop drawing,
approved by the Engineer.
Fabrication of reinforcement may be done on site or in the fabrication
shop. Depending upon the situation assembling of reinforcement cages
shall be done on site.
Reinforcement to be placed ,tied ,securely fixed in positions as per the
approved shop drawings .Comply the Tolerance limits as per ACI-110
Reinforcement shall be binded at all joints tightly to secure the rebar
alignment with approved binding wire Single wire for all joints or Double
wire at alternate joints.
The ends of all tying wires shall be turned into the main body of the
concrete and not allowed to project towards the surface.
All The lap length joint shall be 50 times bar diameter as noted in IFC
drawings
Approved spacers, chairs and other support shall be provided as necessary
to maintain the reinforcement on position and to maintain cover to
External environment. IFC Drawing Notes Typical cover details to be
followed.

J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
Placing of all reinforcement steel bars will be checked and RFI to be raised
and approved by the Engineer and in no case is concrete to be placed
around any reinforcement that has not been approved by Engineer.
The reinforcement should be clean & free from loose rust, concrete mortar,
oil and or other substances.
Walking on reinforcement for access purposes will be avoided where
possible. Where it is unavoidable use planks for movement.
Chairs to be placed at required interval of min 1.5m between chairs.
Spacing between reinforcement In layers to be at least 30mm to be
followed for free flow of Max size aggregate.
BRC Mesh of approved Type to be used in Grade slabs wherever shown in
approved drawing.
Expansion Joint Dowel bar with PVC Sleeve to be placed as per drawing
Typical details
a.Preparatory works

J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
Once all Reinforcement and MEP Inspections are done Plan concrete
activity well in advance.
Skilled and unskilled labor shall need to use safety requirements such as
safety helmet, safety shoes, goggles, gloves and QC and HSE trained for
concrete pouring.
All the concerned Site Engineer / Forman / Operators will be made
aware of the requirements of this method statement through tool box
talks by Construction manager/Project Engineer / HSE personnel, prior
to commencement of work.
Make sure that accesses and exit for the concrete mixtures was proper
from the pouring location.
Proper lighting must be available in case of night concreting.
Ensure that all the equipment’s required for testing such as
thermometer, slump cone, Concrete cube Mould etc are kept ready at
casting yard.
Checking of equipment/Vibrators should done and spare vibrators
should be maintained prior to start concreting..
Temperature should be monitored before ordering & concreting is not
allowed to pour if the ambient temperature is above 45°c
b. Concrete Pouring
Once the concrete will be reached at site will check the Fresh Concrete
test as per approved Grade / Type of Mix are used for the elements like
Footing, wall ,columns and slabs
The concrete mixer must be stopped at the check point for the
inspection of slump & Temperature test and to obtain sample cubes for
test.
10
J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
Ensure concrete temperature is not exceeding 30 Deg C at the time of
concrete placement / as per the approved Mix design Limits.
One set of cubes (6 cubes) shall be taken First and every 50 cum and
addition .Each set consist of 6 cubes, 3 cubes to be tested on 7th days
and 3 cubes to be tested for 28th days.
Adding water is not allowed into concrete mixture after reach at site to
increase the workability Manufacturer written instruction can be
followed by adding Admixtures as per the Limit mentioned in Mix design
Concrete will be done in layers not exceeding 400 mm in single layer.
Unload the concrete within 2hrs of reaching the vehicle at site or within
the required workability is met.
Proper vibrator needles will be used as per the requirement and area of
usage. Compact the concrete properly and extra vibrator shall be
available in case of any shortage or mechanical problems
Footing and slab surface to finish level with straight edge and remove
the excess concrete from top. Type of finish should be followed from the
approved shop drawing to receive the compatibility to next finishes.
Concrete pour card shall be filled with all the placing details of Mixer
including concrete delivery notes, this task will be done whenever
required.
Concrete cube test report shall be submitted to the Engineer with
summary of cubes in test reports Submittal at regular interval monthly.
Immediate after completion of Structure Members and after initial set of
concrete Sprinkling of water to be done on the surface to minimize the
cracks development.
Curing shall be continued for Minimum 7 days .
11
J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
Blinding concrete can be proceed with approved curing compound or
Potable water as per the approved Manufacturer recommendation in
the datasheet.
Major Blowholes / Repairs /Honey comp of concrete will show to QC &
Consultant for approved Repair method..
Concrete requirement in advance about one-week time will be notified
to Batching plant and QC engineer will be informed the laboratory
technician about one-day advance for field test /slump test/cube
testing.
Points to be consider Structure wise as below
Footings / Raft Mass concrete
Generally Rate of Pour will be 40 cum/ Hr/Pump
Vibrators 60 mm will be used
400mm Single Layer Concrete will be poured at on stretch
Beams
Generally Rate of Pour will be 20 Cum/ Hr/Pump
Vibrators 60mm,40mm, 20mm depends on Size and Reinforcement.
Max 400 mm Depth layer will be poured at a time
Columns & Walls
General Rate of Pour will be 20 cum /Hr/Pump
Max Free fall Height is 1.5meter to be ensured
If any Manual Poring of Column Max lift of Shutter allowed is 1.5 m
Vibrators 60mm & 40mm to be used.
Flexible hose to be lay inside the deep of column and uplift slower
evenly concrete to be filled up to minimize the free fall.
12
J213-MS for Reinforcement ,Formwork & Concrete Works
