INTRODUCTION
Augmented reality is regarded as the most world-changing technologies of 21 st century. AR is a type
of communication technology that allows extending digital media out into the physical world. It can
augment the surrounding environment with virtual entities and information in a way that no longer
differentiate between reality and fiction.

SOLUTION FOR AR APPLICATION

In todays fast paced world, travellers love the ease of searching and booking tours on the go. By just
pointing the app towards a building or landmark can present a visual of the entire history and events
that happened there, thereby, offering an amazing experience to the travellers and helping them
learn and explore more, in real time.

App interface also reflects on the opportunities and challenges accompanying historic monuments
for example aayi mandapam, Pondicherry. The information augmented in app interface is
categorized into three main modes; history, heritage and database. These categories are appropriate
due to the type and amount of current available information and also the main documentation
categories of Aayi mandapam. In addition to the three mode buttons, there is also status bar in the
interface. The status bar includes a home button, a compass, and an audio button. The user has the
option to activate the audio guide by pressing the audio button any time it appears on the screen.
This would help people with visual disabilities. In the interface components appear on top on the
camera view from smartphones; thus, the camera becomes activated once the app is launched. It
can be provided with two languages tamil and English. A preferred language can be selected in the
main interface after launching the app from the smartphone.
