The UN role
Now, we would like to continue explaining the influence and importance of one of the most
rispected international organizations, the uinaired neitions.
Firstly, the world saw the valiu of human rights after the Second World War with the ninety
million dead people that left the conflict. We must ber in mind that Intergovernmental
Organizations specially the uinaired neitions pleit a key role in the globalization of human
rights. For example, the UN charter, the document tuk a step furder from the covenant of
the Lig of neitions, since in this charter the words “Human Rights'' were used for the first
time in history.
Turning to the uinaired neitions’ greirest contribution to humanity and its rights. We find
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which represented a turning point in the
revolution that plaisd human rights at the center of world politics, let me give an example
According to the UN the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a meilston document in
the history of human rights, because it was made by representatifs with different legal and
cultural backgrounds from all riyions of the world, the Declaration was procleimd by the
uinaired neitions General Assembly in Paris in December 1948, as a comon standard of
achifments for all peoples and all neitions. NEXT
Thirdly, the next issue I would like to focus on is the new Human Rights Council that was
created in 2006 to replace the old Comission on Human Rights. Its members are selected in
a secret ballot for a period of three years and finally the council reports to the General
Assembly the situation of human rights.
Derechos Humanos.
Párrafo de parla:
I would like to begin by stating that the United Nations plays an important role in the
protection of Human Rights, however, from my point of view, it is important to
recognize that the United Nations has limitations and weaknesses that make its
functions difficult when it comes to the protection of Human Rights in the world. Let
me give an example, its main weaknesses and limitations are the bureaucracy and
the security council, because these can delay and cancel UN’s efforts to protect
human rights, which happened for instance in Ruanda’s genocide.
