PG13- Intense fantasy action, low sense of horror. Appropriate for young teens and above
Theme/message- The Hobbit conveys very prominent themes such as bravery, selflessness greed,
trust, fellowship, heroism, home and birthright. The story highlights the protagonist’s development
from a common man into a hero.
Summary
Bilbo Baggins, a homely, youthful, pipe-smoking stocky Halfling, one day has an almost fated
encounter with the renowned wizard, Gandalf the Grey. The Wizard took a gamble of wits, as he
invited Bilbo (he accepts) on a perilous journey to reclaim the lonely mountain (homeland of the
dwarves) from a fire-breathing beast, alongside daring allies.
Together, they encounter, orcs, creatures of myth, uncover a dark plot of evil, and experience a
journey of a lifetime.
Bilbo Baggins will not be the same after this unexpected journey.
Bilbo eventually encounters a foul creature called Gollum, where he must play a game of wits and
riddles for his life (This scene is a thrill and a pivotal point in the film’s running as it changes Bilbo for
the future.)
Recommendation
I recommend it because of the faithful representation of a superb plot, relatable cast of characters,
breath-taking visuals and lessons learned.
Adventure awaits you in the hobbit.
