Jadavpur University Selection Process 2023

The admissions process for Jadavpur University 2023 begins with an entrance exam, followed by a
round of document verification counselling. The Jadavpur University entrance examination 2023 is
held for admission to undergraduate and graduate programmes in the fields of arts, science, and
commerce. Students will be chosen based on their performance in the previous qualifying
examination, the entrance examination, or both, depending on the programme. The JEE Main scores
will be used to determine admission to the BTech programme.

Candidates’ aggregate marks in the qualifying

BA Economics examination inclusive of marks obtained in
Mathematics.

Candidates will be admitted on the basis of an

Jadavpur University Selection Procedure 2023 - PG Courses

For students who have done their hons. in any

literature subject including Comparative
literature, the selection will be done solely on
the basis of marks scored in the admission test.
Such candidates will have to appear for only
one paper.
MA Comparative Literature Candidates with hons. in non-literature
subjects will also be admitted on the basis of
marks obtained in the admission test. However,
such candidates will have to appear for two
papers on General literature. Candidates’
marks in both the papers will be considered for
admission.

The admissions will be done based on the

score in both the honours papers and
MA Philosophy and Sanskrit
admission test and assign equal weightages to
both the components.

Candidates who already have a three-year

MA Film Studies honours degree in Film Studies with at least
50% as aggregate will be admitted directly

Candidates will be admitted solely on the basis

of the marks obtained in honours paper. But
for candidates who have studied distance or
MA Bengali and Sociology
correspondence courses from any recognised
university will have to appear for a qualifying

admission to Jadavpur University.

Jadavpur University Counselling 2023

Selected candidates who manage to pass the entrance test and have their names on the merit list
are called for the Jadavpur University counselling 2023 by the university authorities. Candidates must
carry all the required documents while visiting the Jadavpur University counselling to get them
verified. Only on the verification of the documents and payment of the tuition fee candidates can
have their Jadavpur University admission guaranteed. If a candidate fails to produce the required
documents or does not meet the eligibility requirements during the Jadavpur University 2023
counselling, he or she may be denied admission. The university will also release a waiting list, in
addition to the merit list, for candidates who are eligible for the next round of Jadavpur University

9. If the provisionally selected candidate is pursuing an MA day-course or its equivalent in

another college/university, he/she should sign an affidavit that he/she will be deregistering
from the course.
10. Income certificate of parents or guardians signed by the employers for employed candidates

The candidates who are shortlisted for B.Ed. programme under the deputy category need have to
submit the following documents along with the aforementioned -

1. Teachers from secondary/ higher secondary schools affiliated to W.B.B.S.E/ W.B.C.H.S.E must

be able to furnish (I) a copy of the appointment letter from the District Inspector of Schools
(II) a No Objection Certificate issued from the Managing Committee of the school duly
countersigned by the District Inspector of Schools. The Managing Committee must mention
if the teacher teaches in class V to XII, at the time of interview and admission.

Employed M.Sc. candidates will have to bring original; joining letter, N.O.C from a competent
authority, salary certificate along with the aforementioned documents

Jadavpur University 2023 Admission - Reservation

The university offers reservation to the candidates belonging to minority communities according to
the rules and regulations. Candidates can check the reservation criteria below for each category.

• Domicile Quota

The State (West Bengal) Residential / Domicile requirement is applicable for admission to Jadavpur
University. For Jadavpur University 90% of the General Seats are earmarked for West Bengal domicile
candidates.
The candidate shall have to furnish valid Domicile Certificate in the WBJEE proforma in his/her name
issued by the competent authority and satisfying the criteria as mentioned in Annexure–A.

If the certificate is found to be invalid, the candidate will lose the opportunity of admission.

• SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B Reservation

The candidate shall have to furnish copies of valid SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B certificate in his/her

name issued by the competent authority as listed in Annexure–B. OBC Certificates must have the
category A/B mentioned without which the certificate will be considered as invalid.

• Reservation for Person with Disability

Reservation is available for Persons with Disability (PwD) with 40% to 70% disabilities of a) Locomotor
disability; b) Visual Impairment; c) Hearing impairment; and d) Speech and language disability,
subject to the condition that the candidate can carry out all activities related to theory and practical
work as applicable to B.E/B.Tech / B.Arch / B.Pharm courses without any special concession and
exemption

• Reservation under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme

The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW) has been implemented by the Government of West Bengal for
meritorious and economically backward students domiciled in West Bengal for admission to all the
participating institutes through WBJEE. These seats are available on a supernumerary basis, i.e., over
and above the sanctioned seats. The waiver is limited to the Tuition Fee only. All other fees will have
to be paid by the beneficiary. The candidate allotted under TFW scheme must be domiciled in West
Bengal (conforming to the criteria mentioned under clause 3.1). Total Annual Family Income of the
candidate from all sources must be less than Rs. 2.50 lakhs (Rupees Two Lakhs and Fifty Thousand
only).
