The Origin of Negeri Lempur

A long time ago, in the wilderness, there was Kingdoms of the Three Clans. The
kingdom was ruled by three brothers, there are Pamuncak Rencong Talang, Pamuncak
Tanjung Seri, and Pamuncak Koto Tapus.
One day, the society that was led by Pamuncak Rencong Talang was very prosperous.
Therefore, Pamuncak Rencong Talang held a harvest festival by inviting his relatives and
family. Pamuncak Tanjung Seri didn't attend the party and sent his wife and two children.
Short story They had arrived in the region of Pamuncak Rencong Talang during the
harvest festival. It was planned that the party would be held for three days and three nights.
On the evening of the third day, a lady from the Pamuncak Tanjung Seri attended the party,
and she was very beautiful and became the target of the young man. The party was very
lively. Suddenly, the rooster had been crowing many times, indicating that it was getting late.
Finally, the girl's mother took her child; it was time to go home. However, the girl did not
ignore her mother.
There was a young man asking the lady, "Who was the old woman who called her?"
Hearing the question, the girl replied, "Oo.., that woman is my maid."
Hearing these words, his mother felt hurt and disappointed. The next day, they
returned home, and when the society arrived at the area between Pulau Sangkar and Lolo,
where it was swampy and muddy. Pamuncak Tanjung Sari's wife prayed to God so that her
rebellious daughter would disappear in the mud swamp. Suddenly, the prayer was granted by
God, and the girl's feet were trapped in the muddy swamp, so that she disappeared very
deeply. She cried and asked for help from her mother and bodyguards. But her mother didn't
care anymore.
The mother said, "I'm not your mother, I'm just your maid."
The girl kept on wailing and begging while saying, "Please…, please, Mother, I will
not be disobedient to you again. Please forgive me, Mother."
Her mother didn't want to hear what her daughter was saying anymore. Instead, she
took the Jambi bracelet and her daughter's scarf that her daughter was wearing, and the young
lady disappeared in the mud.
After that incident, the place was given the name Lempur, which comes from the
word mud. Meanwhile, the bracelet is thrown away in a tebat, so the tebat is called Tebat
Gelang. Then, Jambi's long cloth was also thrown into another patch, so that the patch was
named Jambi Tebat.
