Reproductive System Study Guide

Here is the information we would like you to review for the skin/integumentary system. Click on
the hyperlinks to be routes to various sites that are specific to the integumentary system. Please
explore these sites to gain a thorough understanding of this part of the body, but try and use the
questions and this study guide to focus on the learning objectives for this unit.

You will be responsible for a general understanding of both the male and female reproductive

Male
[ ] penis:​ identify the different components, including the root, the shaft, and the glans of the
penis. Remember, there are three spaces within the shaft of the penis that are blood-filled
sinuses surrounding the urethra.
[ ] epididymis​: this cannot be seen externally, but is a component within the male reproductive
system that collects sperm and lies against the back of each of the testes.
[ ] prostate​: this lies just below the bladder, and surrounding the urethra.

Female
[ ] breast tissue:​ identify the breast tissue, and the main components including the fatty tissue
and the lactiferous ducts of both the left and right breast
[ ] uterus:​ the component of the female reproductive system in which a fetus will grow if a
female is pregnant
[ ] fallopian tube​: the “connection” between the ovary and the uterine body
[ ] ovary:​ these are both endocrine and gonadal organs, and are responsible for the production
of an ovum, or commonly referred to as an egg.
