Arrival Guide for Spring Semester, 2023

1. Arriving in Korea for the Spring Semester, 2023

- For those who are planning to enter Korea: freshmen, transfer students, returning
students (from leave of absence), exchange/visiting students. All courses will be
conducted off-line. Therefore, we require all international students to come to Korea.
Please fill out the survey (QR CODE) below when your flight schedule is fixed.

- For those who are currently staying in Korea: For every international student staying in
Korea, please fill out the survey (QR CODE) below and let us know your current status.

2. If there are any changes in your arrival plan, please contact our staff.
- If you change your arrival plan (arrival date, plans for arriving in Korea) after the survey,
please contact and inform our staff as bellow in the chart.
- They are only in charge of your arrival and entry into Korea. So, please contact
ericaoia@hanyang.ac.kr for other questions regarding living and studying at Hanyang.

3. Procedures to Enter Korea

Before Departure
(1) Make a reservation for your accommodation.
- Personal accommodation, or
- ERICA dormitory: the check-in date starts from Feb. 22nd.

■ Documents that you should submit when you check-in *


○ COVID-19 Test Result
① COVID-19 Self-kit inspection results within 24 hours of the date you check-in
(Make sure that we can check the date of the shooting, and you must write your
name on the self-kit )
② PCR test results within 48 hours of the date you check-in(captured message,
etc.)
③ Negative confirmation of RAT test results within 48 hours of the date you
check-in(received results from a designated medical institution )
④ Evidence that can confirm the quarantine date if the test result is positive
due to the recent confirmation history (quarantine notice within 90 days of
confirmation, quarantine release notice etc.)

※ Students should find places to stay by themselves before checking in dorm.
* PCR test: A negative PCR result within 48 hours (issued in Korea) is required to check in
and students should find places to stay until the result comes out.

* RAT: A negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result within 48 hours (issued in Korea) is
required to check in and students do not have to find places to stay if they can go through
RAT after arriving in Korea. But, the check-in time is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and students
might have to find places to stay depending on their arrival time and RAT test.

※ Arrivals from China must complete PCR screening within 1 day of arrival. If your result
is positive after checking in dorm, you will be isolated in a separate dorm. However, you
should find places to stay on your own if separate rooms are not available.

(2) Ticket Reservations and Visa Applications


- Apply for the visa at the Korean Embassy (Check the necessary documents ahead of time)
- Book flight tickets

[Guidance on strengthening of quarantine for arrivals from China]

(Pre-entry screening and Q-CODE updating) By updating the data of your Negative
Report on PCR screening completed within 48 hours or RAT screening for
professionals completed within 24 hours to the Q-CODE, you may obtain your QR
Code.
(Screening after arrival) Complete PCR screening within 1 day of arrival and register
the screening results in “Register screening after arrival” (https://bit.ly/3XDhIut)

[Guidelines for enhanced quarantine for travelers from Hong Kong and Macau]

(Pre-entry screening and Q-CODE updating) By updating the data of your Negative
Report on PCR screening completed within 48 hours or RAT screening for
professionals completed within 24 hours to the Q-CODE, you may obtain your QR
Code.

- Before checking in, COVID-19 test should be done : Choose one from below
documents and submit the result through the survey

 ① COVID-19 Self-kit inspection results within 24 hours of the date you check-in
 (Make sure that we can check the date of the shooting, and you must write your name

 ex) If the check-in date is Feb 25(Sat), the result is only valid from Feb 24(Fri)

 ex) If the check-in date is Feb 25, the result is only valid from Feb 23.
 ③ Negative confirmation of RAT test results within 48 hours of the date you check-
in(received results from a designated medical institution)
 ex) If the check-in date is Feb 25, the result is only valid from Feb 23.
 ④ Evidence that can confirm the quarantine date if the test result is positive due to
the recent confirmation history
 ex) quarantine notice within 90 days of confirmation, quarantine release notice etc.

 - Check-in is possible from Feb. 22nd (check-in location: Administrative Team, 2nd floor, at
Changei Residence Hall, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

※ Students should find places to stay by themselves before checking in dorm.


※ Arrivals from China must complete PCR screening within 1 day of arrival. If your result
is positive after checking in dorm, you will be isolated in a separate dorm. However, you
should find places to stay on your own if separate rooms are not available.

* PCR test: A negative PCR result within 48 hours (issued in Korea) is required to check
in and students should find places to stay until the result comes out.
- PCR tests are free of charge at local health centers, but there will be test cost
incurred at the Incheon Airport or hospitals.

* RAT: A negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result within 48 hours (issued in Korea) is
required to check in and students do not have to find places to stay if they can go
through RAT after arriving in Korea. But, the check-in time is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
and students might have to find places to stay depending on their arrival time and
RAT test.

<Arrivals from China : Perform PCR tests at the local public health center within 1 day
of arrival>
- Check the location of the local public health center
* The public health center covering Hanyang University dormitory or accommodation
near Hanyang University ERICA is the Sangnoksu Public Health Center.
 * Sangnok Public Health Center Address: 5, Chadolbae-gil 1-gil, Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si
* Visit the public health center within 1 day of arrival (by 23:59 on the next day), conduct
a free PCR test, and enter your result by accessing the Q-CODE (Check the details from
attached files)
 * Arrivals from other countries: conduct a voluntary PCR test within 3 days of arrival
4. Direction from HANYANG UNIV. AT ANSAN STATION (Line no.4) to DORMITORY
From Hanyang Univ. at Ansan station to Hanyang University, it takes around 40 min. by walk.
We recommend you take either taxi or shuttle bus.

- There is a shuttle bus stop near Hanyang Univ. at Ansan station. To get to the shuttle bus
stop, come out to exit 2 and go left.

- The closest shuttle bus stop to the main gate and the Office of International Affairs is
Hanyang Univ. shuttle bus stop, also known as 셔틀콕<Shuttlecock>.

- The final destination of the shuttle bus is dormitory stop. It is located between the parking
lot and the soccer field. Please visit the administrative office on the 2nd floor of Changei
Residence Hall to check-in.

5. Airport Pickup Service(for only those who want this service)
If you would like to apply for an airport pick-up service upon arrival in Korea, please fill
out the application form at the link below.

* The number of people arriving at the similar time will be randomly grouped.
* You need to pay USD32 through Paypal beforehand on the website above. You also need
to pay an additional fee on the spot if grouped less than 4.

Hanyang University ERICA offers a free pick-up service for our students.
* This free pick-up service is only for newly admitted students.
* You cannot use this service if you are not one of the newly incoming students.
- Only available for 30 students on a first-come first-served basis
- Date/Time: Feb. 22 ~ 26, 16:00 pm
- Meeting Point: You can find a Hanyang University standing signboard near Exit 13 (arrival hall F) on 1F,
Terminal 1 (see attached file)
- This free pick-up service is only available for 30 students in the order of receipt at the meeting point.
For those who failed to make the list will be able to get information regarding transportation on the spot.
(In this case, students should pay for bus or taxi fares incurred.)
6. Apply for Alien Registration Card (ARC) after Entering Korea
- All international students must apply for an alien registration card within 90 days after
arriving in Korea.
* If you do not apply within 90 days, you will be fined 500,000 won or less.
* All newly admitted students, new transfer students, returning students (from leave of
absence), and students without an ARC
- Alien Registration Card is an identification card that can be used in Korea and can be used
in place of a passport.
- How to apply for alien registration card:
1) On-campus Group registration: to be announced by e-mail.
2) Apply directly by visiting the Immigration Office (make an on-line reservation first, and
prepare necessary documents for application)

※ Details regarding the ARC, extension of stay, change of visa status, and etc. will be announced
at a later date through our orientation guidebook.

7. Class Operation Plans (Spring Semester of 2023)


* Classes for the spring semester will begin on March 2. All classes will be conducted off-line
(in-class). So, we require all international students to come to Korea before March 2.

* As all classes are conducted off-line, you will be responsible for any problems that may arise
from your failure to come to class or to come to Korea.
