YOUTH FORUM
Date: 26th September, 2011. Respected Head Quarter (FPAI Mumbai) and FPAI Mohali Branch, The recent updates of the Youth Forum activities are mentioned below: Update of Youth Forums activities
1. International Girl Child/ Daughter Day: Youth Forum presented a

street play on 25th September, 2011 conveying the message for abolition of gender bias and promotion of gender equality with the great emphasis on importance of Girl Child and ensuring education to them as equally important. The play was screened at two villages: Village Landran and Village Kailon. Total 15 youth volunteers organized the event, out of which 10 youth volunteers took part in the street play. However, no senior volunteer and staff member was present during the event. The no. of viewers was very few when the young team reached the spot (khera of the village Landran). The enhance the no. of viewers in order to spread the message in mass, the youth volunteers scattered in the village and approached the people by going to their homes and invited them for play, by this, around 150 community members come around. In village Kailon the venue was Gurudwara Sahib of the village where the no of viewers were around 100. The youth forum received appreciation from the villagers and stake holders for conducting the event. A Young girl from the village stood up and shared her feelings after the play and expressed strongly before the villagers to stop gender

bias and thanked the youth forum for this initiative. She was student of Nursing in Mata Sahib College of nursing. One girl of age 10 years presented a speech on the same issue, containing the statistical figures of sex ratio in the recent Census-2011. The youth volunteers got free at 8 PM.

2. International Youth Day - Blood donation camp: Blood donation

camp on International Youth Day-2011. A blood donation camp was organized at Student Centre, (Common Room) Panjab University,

Chandigarh on 12th August, 2011. Total 107 blood units were donated by the youngsters to remark the International Youth Day. Dr. Manmohan Kaur [Ex. President FPAI Mohali Branch] visited the camp and congratulates all the youth volunteers for doing a great job. The camp was organized in association with Rotary blood bank society, Chandigarh.

3. Workshop on Communication Skills Capacity Building: Workshop

held on communication skills at University Institute of Applied Management and Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh on 30 th July, 2011 by Dr. Manjushri Sharma, Astt. Professor, UIAMS. The funds for organizing the workshop was arranged by youth volunteers themselves by contributing 120 Rupees each participants including the cost of lunch, honorarium, certificates, banner and other miscellaneous expenditure. The stationery being provided by the FPAI. Total no. of participants were 30 out of which 20 were the Youth Volunteers.

4. Foundation day: Youth Volunteers showed a large participation on

Foundation Day i.e. 23rd July, 2011 by presenting a play on blood donation and participating in a play on female feticide by staff members. Mr. Chandeep Singh Youth Volunteer presented songs and entertained the audience. The total no. of youth volunteers presented on the foundation day were 20.

5. World Population Day: - Total 11 number of youth volunteers joined

the SECRT Project team to observe World Population Day on 1 st July, 2011 at Govt. College Phase 6 Mohali. Good media coverage observed.

6. Various Youth Forum meetings and enrolment of new youth

volunteers - ONGOING
