San Marcos Tourist Spot: The Impact on the Livelihood Development to the residents of
Brgy Lim-ao, Kananga Leyte

RESEARCH STATEMENT
This research study is a survey on the impact on the development of the tourist spot in
San Marcos to the resident of Barangay Lim-ao.

AIMS AND OBEJECTIVES


The aim of this research is to conduct a survey on the development of the tourist spot in
San Marcos Located in Barangay Lim-ao, Municipality of Kananga. The purpose to be able to
know how the development of the tourist spot help the residents of San Marcos on Livelihood.

1. Identify the residents living in San Marcos.


2. Identify the type of Livelihood they had.
3. How many years the San Marcos known to be a tourist spot.
4. Average numbers of visiotrs that come in a month.
5. Evaluate the result on how it help the residents of San Marcos on the development of the
Tourist Spot.
6. Development or introduce different ways on advertising to help promote the tourist spot to be
knowm not only on its Municipality out to the other places.

satisfaction with particular life domains. Accordingly, the study proposed four major hypotheses:
(1) residents’ perception of tourism impacts affects their QOL in the community, (2) residents’
satisfaction with particular life domains is affected by the perception of particular tourism impact
dimensions, (3) residents’ satisfaction with particular life domains affects residents’ life
satisfaction in general, and (4) the relationship between residents’ perception of tourism impacts
and their satisfaction with particulate life domains is moderated by tourism development stages.
REASEARCH METHOLOGY
The research is a survey among 50 residents of San Marcos in Brgy. Lim-ao that have an
additional income or any type of livelihood due to the coming of tourist on the place.

POPULATION OF THE STUDY


The population of the study will be the resident of Barangay Lim-ao, Kananga, Leyte. The
researcher are targeting at least 25 teenagers between 13-19 years old and 25 adults with an age
of 20 and above. This is a descriptive research utilizing the standard survey questionnaires.

DATA COLLECTION METHODS


The reserachers will use standars survey questionairs to find out the impact of the
development of Mt. San Marcos as a tourist spots to the residents, which also has a huge
advantage for them. The results of the survey will be presented in graphs to make a quick, easy
graphic for people to understand.

CONTEXT FOR THE RESEARCH


The study is carried out as a partial to identify the additional livelihood of the residents in the
development of tourist spot in San Marcos Tourist Spot in Brgy. Lim-ao, Kananga Leyte.

RATIONAL OF RESEARCH
San Marcos Tourist Spot: The Impact on the Livelihood Development to the residents of Brgy
Lim-ao, Kananga Leyte. Livelihood have a significant impact of the residents as options and
income of tourism communities. The level of tourism development and the type of natural
tourism communities often exhibit spatial differences. By using the method of sustainable
livelihood and examining the main factors that affect community income from the perspective of
spatial heterogeneity, it is possible to have additional livelihood assets that play the most critical
role in the development sustaine livelihoods and income generation in the community, which
helps provide more reasonable advice on tourism destination management.
