DESCRIPTION: Choosing a favorite type of music to dance to.

Preparing
- You will need various types of music for this activity such and country, Latin (salsa), classical, rock
(with appropriate language), and dance or rap (with appropriate language).
- Have at least 4 different types of music.
- Make enough copies of the Documentation of Learning sheet for each child to have one.
Facilitating
- Invite an interested group of children to join you in a large area of the classroom.
-Play the different kinds of music for the children and encourage them to dance or move their bodies any
way they want.
- How does hearing the different types of music make them want to move differently?
- After playing each kind of music encourage children to tell you which kind of music was their favorite
and fill out the DOL sheet attached to the resource section of this activity.
Notes
Facilitation Tips:
Support each child in writing on the sheet at the level that they are able. For some that might mean
sounding out the words together while you write. Make sure that you say the letters as you write them.
Or, a child might be able to write the letters while you say them. Or, a child can sound out and write the
words with your help and encouragement.

Notes:
Remember, do not display the DOL sheets in your classroom. These are to be sent home to families.
