Sub: Approval Request for Fire Fighting Overhead Tank for KASE-Kannur ITI Project.

Ref: Email dated 16/06/2023 and its reply.

I am writing to bring to your attention the status of the fire protection system work in the
project "Upgradation of Govt. ITI at Kannur." As of now, 90% of the piping work for the system has
been completed. However, the finalization of the design for the firefighting Overhead Tank is still
pending. The contractor has come up with a new proposal for a stainless-steel tank (SS304L - See the
attached Material approval request). The proposed stainless-steel tank is technically acceptable for
the project and is indeed superior to the structural steel tank option. Considering the time required
for fabricating the structural steel tank, the stainless-steel tank proposal appears to be a favourable
choice. In the view of future expansion of building, it's not advisable to place structural steel tank as
the shifting and relocation of the tank would be more difficult.

In the Bill of Quantities, the structural steel tank has been quoted at the rate of Rs. 92,223/-
(with a capacity of 5000 litters). On the other hand, the proposed stainless-steel tank would cost Rs.
1,17,500/-

Therefore, I kindly request your approval for the proposed material, taking into consideration
the associated cost implications.
Approval comments
 Pump suction head diameter should be match with the tank bottom outlet point.
 2 no’s outlet point required at the bottom and top of tank.
 Warranty of minimum 1 year to be provided for the material.
