    Occasion: celebrating Africa statistics day today 19th November 2022

    The African statistics day (ASD) is a United Nations Economic Commission (UNECA)
    conference comprised of African ministers established in 1990. In keeping abreast with the role
    of official statistics as the very center of debates of the UN Assembly of Heads of States and
    Governments, the promotion of planning and economic development in Africa are the two major
    focuses of this conference. A further purpose of this conference is to raise public awareness
    about the indispensable role that statistics play in elevating all aspects of social and economic
    life. An African Statistics System (ASS) is key to addressing ongoing initiatives
