Care item of main engine for long mooring.

Recently, we have received some question about the cared items of main engine for long mooring
(more than 30days). So, our recommendation will be shown, as follows.

1. Every week cared items.

1.1 Supply the control air, and operate the all pumps for 15~30 minutes which are necessary to
start the main engine.
1.2 Close the header valve of starting air tank and set the locking plate of the main starting valve to
the blocked position.
1.3 Adjust the handle position of cylinder lubricator to max. position. (Only mechanical lubricator.)
1.4 Open the indicator cock for all cylinders, and turn the main engine by turning motor for 15
minutes and prime the cylinder lubricator during turning.
1.5 Disengage the turning gear after finishing turning, and open the header valve of starting air
tank and set the locking plate of the main starting valve to the service position.
1.6 Carry out air running twice (ahead and astern).
1.7 Close the header valve of starting air tank and set the locking plate of the main starting valve to
the blocked position.
1.8 Operate the auxiliary blower for 5 minutes.
1.9 Stop all pumps about 5 minutes after stopping the auxiliary blower.
Caution : The valve for supplying control air will be kept open in order to close the exhaust
valve.

2. Every two weeks cared item.

2.1 Carry out the visual check in the crank case, cam case and chain case, and rectify or
countermeasure if there is a rust on parts.

3. Others.
Care the funnel, not to bring the rust in turbocharger by strong rain and wind.
Check LO by analysis every month. Especially, take care about “water” in LO.
Drain out the water from lower valve on FO return line, if it is equipped, and check FO by
analysis every month. Especially take care about “water” in FO.
Care a rust of electric terminal of the junction box and all electric machinery.
