What is an ELECTRICAL GRID?

GENERATION - Centralised and decentralised generation are the two types of generation. Large-
scale production distance from consumption is referred to as centralised generation. This includes
coal, nuclear, natural gas, hydro, wind farms, and big solar arrays. Consumers are connected to
centralised power via the grid. Decentralised generating, like rooftop solar, happens close to the
point of consumption.
TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION: Power lines, transformers, and substations transmit
electricity from power plants to consumers' homes. Transmission losses over long distances and
resistive transmission lines are reduced when electricity is at high voltages. As a result, substations
at the generating site have transformers that raise the voltage of electricity so that it can be
transported. Powerlines are used to transmit data, and they can be overhead or subterranean.3.
