Rationale For Poster
To engage and interest the reader, the author will use a multiplicity of literary devices. These literary devices can be connoted as; symbolism, tone, sensory
imagery, flashbacks and diction. Literary devices are there mostly for engagement purposes, but for effectiveness overall, literary devices are just one part of
it. Factors that make an autobiography (and biography) effective may be denoted as; AUTHENTICITY, which means the quality of being real or true,
STRUCTURE, which means in this sense, how the author talks about his experiences in chronological order and how he/she structures his/her writing
overall. ATTENTION TO DETAIL, this is more in relation to autobiographies as the ‘man himself’ would know more about the little details than anyone else
would. INSPIRE, this means that the author may be trying to inspire others to be somewhat like them by communicating messages to the reader. FACTS,
straightforwardly meaning that the author is using facts and statistics to write his literary piece. VOICE, this means that it includes dialogues, statements or
saying said or written by the character in their autobiography/biography (more likely to be found in autobiographies than biographies). These factors play a
significant role in determining the effectiveness and highlight the message trying to be conveyed to the reader in autobiographies/biographies, as without
them the literary piece will be not effective and will not be a well written piece of literature.
