Statement Of Purpose

"My goal is not to be better than anyone else, but to be better than I used to be", words
by Wayne Dyen truly inspire me. Myself Jahnvi Patel, I am planning to pursue post
graduation in space system engineering in Stevens Institute Of Technology. So that I
can acquaint myself with in depth information and I aim to improve and strengthen my
knowledge of this domain and strive to acquire the necessary skills to advance further in
this field.

I finished my secondary education from Hiramani School, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. I

scored 74 % in my SSC examination. Then I selected physics, chemistry and maths as
my major in intermediate. I finished by intermediate on time scoring 52 % in my exam.
Then I chose to study B.E in Aeronautical engineering for my undergraduate studies in
order to explore this field in detail. During these four years I had an opportunity to study
many course subjects with applications like aircraft design, helicopter engineering,
space dynamics, electronics, composite materials, fluid mechanics, machine design,
aircraft engines, rocket and missile technology, elements of mechanical engineering,
elements of electrical engineering, Anysis software, computer programming and much
more. In bachelors I have scored 7.55 CGPA. I worked on a varied range of projects
during my academic years. One of the best considered projects was Structural
Simulation Of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, my whole group has received much
appreciation from our facilities.

During my graduate program besides academic curriculum, I actively participated in

many co-curricular activities like: development of technical and research skills by
attending workshop at Boeing National Aeromodelling Festival at IIT Kanpur, also being
part of seminar of Gas Turbine India Student by ASME, received training certificate in
entrepreneurship training camp conducted by International Center For Entrepreneurship
And Career Development and also participated at many inter Colleges / University's
Technological Festival; at zonal level I had attended and participated Cultural Festivals
of many varieties; done good in community outreach and social initiatives at state and
zonal level by participating at different - different events; I have been student
coordinator in my campus and learn leadership and management skills from that.

In this contemporary world emerging technologies and advancement. Space system

engineering has contributed a lot to human kind, also making possible a lot of
impossible things, like making homosapien multi - planetary species. Hence, this field
has power to revolutionize the world. This is a field which develops aircraft and
spacecraft. It also helps programs meet all mission requirements and design spacecraft
. This field is astronomically wide, but very little is known by everyone. From childhood I
was fascinated and curious about the aircraft working and all, it seems like magic back
then. Therefore by choosing this field I am quenching my knowledge thirst. Presently I
want to focus on exploring the applied application and strengthen my technical
proficiency by pursuing an M.S in space system engineering .The master's program will
allow me to familiarise myself with both the basic and advanced topics in the field, as
well as provide me opportunities to work on industry - applicable projects that can
translate into opportunities for networking as well as developing teamwork and critical
thinking skills. My objective in the long run, is to put my Passion into creativity and
technical dexterity to developing revolutionary technologies by working at the research
arena as well and I want to work with an organization that allows me to utilise my ability
and provide a consistently positive atmosphere to learn new technology and implement
for growth as " Education is not the process of life, but it is life itself".

I know by searching on testimonials of your institute : future focused, it incorporates

many skills, provides internship, esteemed faculties, excellent research facilities,
structure of the program and extra curricular activities; hence, makes it a great place for
studies. I hope to hone my technical skills as well as deepen my knowledge of space
system Technologies through this program which will further help me accentuate my
competency and explore my potential to build a promising career in the ever growing
sphere of space system engineering. Therefore I feel that obtaining admission in your
institute would definitely help me to make my dreams come true.

In conclusion, I am interested in building my skills with this degree. My goal is to attain a

demanding, rigorous, and rewarding post within this profession. I know that I still have a
lot of things to learn and I am very much willing to explore my horizons making myself
very useful in this field. I hope my accomplishments alongside my fondest hopes and
dreams will help me to get admission at your institute, so I can expand my horizons in
