9. Explain the process of photosynthesis.
A. The students complete the picture by wring down sunlight (energy) and
carbon dioxide on the left side, oxygen and sugar on the right side, and water
below the soil. Plants take in water from the soil and carbon dioxide from the
air. Leaves use the energy trapped from sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and
water into food (sugar) and oxygen. This process is called photosynthesis.
10.How do plants make the air healthier for us?
A. Plants clean the air through photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, plants
take in carbon dioxide, which we breathe out. Also, they give out oxygen
during photosynthesis, which makes the air clean and healthy. All living
things need oxygen to live.

A. Photosynthesis cannot take place at night since it needs energy from sunlight
to occur.
