1. Introduction
This section identifies the function of the Tool and provides contact details if further
information is required.
It is essential that personnel using this tool understand its function and method of
operation to ensure that it is used safely and correctly. It is also essential to maintain the
tool in good working order. This manual instructs the method of operation and
maintenance of this tool.
Prior to operating this equipment, the user must ensure that all appropriate Personal
Protective Equipment is used.

section 1.3 for technical support information.
2 Operating Instructions
2.1 Preparations
Check the too for obvious signs of damage and report any findings to an appropriate supervisor.
See section 4.1
2.2 Operation
1) Engine Sling attaches to the engine via the Forward and Rear engine flight mounts. In
certain circumstances the Forward and Rear engine flight mount will not be fitted to the engine
(see 2.3 for Forward and Rear engine flight mounts fitting), in such instances the Dummy
Forward and Rear Engine Mounts (RRT029233 & RRT029232) respectively should be fitted to
enable connection to the Forward and Rear of the engine. Refer to RRT0290233 and
RRT029232 operation manual for further information.
2) Lift Sling from Trolley (RRT030496) using shop hoist. Refer to HU56468 operation
manual.
3) Attach Rear Dummy Mount (RRT029232), align 4 holes and secure using 4 off bolts Nut
and Washers supplied with Rear dummy Mount (RRT029232).
5) Attach FWD Dummy Mount (RRT029233), align 4 holes and secure using 4 off bolts Nut
and Washers supplied with FWD dummy Mount (RRT029233).
2.3 Installation of Engine Sling using Forward and Rear Dummy Mount
1) Remove Retaining Pin and Shoulder Pin from Rear Dummy Mount (RRT029232),
2) Remove Retaining Pin and Shoulder Pin from FWD Dummy Mount (RRT029233),
3) Lower Sling to Engine and align with FWD Dummy Mount and Rear Dummy Mount
4) Locate Sling and secure using Shoulder Pins and Retaining Pins at 2 positions, Forward
Engine Mount position and the Rear Engine Mount position.
(see Fig 7 & 8 )
1) Remove Bolts 4 off Special Hex Head Flange Bolts (Detail 69,70 & 7l) stored in parking
positions, See Fig 10.
3) Attach Rear Flight Mount using 4 off Special Hex Head Flange Bolts (Detail 69).Bolts must
be positioned from under side, secure using Nuts and Washers (Details 70 & 71) as shown in
Fig 1 1.
5) Attach FWD Flight using 4 off Barrel Nuts (Detail 66), 4 off hex head bolt / washer ( Detail
67 & 68)
6) Remove 4 - off Hex Head Bolt and Washer (Details 67 & 68) 1 per Barrel Nut stored in
parking positions -See Fig 10 and 11
3. Storage Instructions
Ensure all unpainted surfaces are adequately coated in oil or lanolin prior to storage.
The Minimum requirement for storage environment is: - Indoors, heating or refrigeration
not required
4.2 Maintenance
Ensure all moving parts are fully functional, and correctly greased or oiled
using a suitable product.
Clean all component(s) using suitable cleaning fluid.
All fasteners are in place, correctly installed and in good condition.

5 Disposal Instructions
5 Declaration of Conformity
The Master copy of the Declaration of Conformity is held by the Design area responsible. A
copy of this document may be obtained by contacting the relevant tooling engineer as defined
by Rolls-Royce Aeromanager.
Screws.
Screws of .250” and above are to BS1768:1963 grade ‘S’ (minimum tensile 50
Ton/in2), and No.10 UNF screws to BS1981:1972 (minimum tensile 25 Ton/in2).
Nuts.
Nut sizes 4, 6, 8 & 10 are to BS1981:1972 (minimum tensile 25 Ton/in2). Nut sizes
.250” and above are to BS1768:1963 (grade 1), thread to BS1589 class 2B & material
BS970 080M40 or 070M20.
4 off holes (circled) to be machined into slots as per dimensions shown below
