DISTRICT ATHLETIC MEET 2019

I. RATIONALE

GOOD IN
In pursuance to Republic Act 9155 otherwise known as Governance of Basic Education
Act of 2001, the Program for School Sports and Physical Education remains part of the
Basic Education Curriculum. In addition, the DepEd Division of Tayabas City advocates
intellectual growth, good health and over-all physical fitness which are in consonance with
the DepEd Challenge: Good Health to Great Sports and Better Education. As such, the
Tayabas West District will be held annually.

SPORTS
Sports is a powerful medium of education and participating in sports meets provides the
needed avenue for practicing the young players’ prowess in the different sports events as
well as for developing the values of team cooperation, competitiveness, and sport
mindedness. The conduct of the sports meets from the grassroots level to the higher level
of competitions entails a continuous process of training and selecting potential athletes. In

any athletics competitions, it is imperative that players must play the game in the spirit of
fair play toward the attainment of sports excellence.

District Athletic Meet 2019 is an annual multi-level scholastic athletic competition


participated by different schools of Tayabas West District, DepEd Region IV-A
CALABARZON and participated by the learners in the different Grade Level. It serves as
the laboratory of all learned/acquired knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the Physical

Education curriculum. It is a venue that provides in-school youth opportunities to improve
their physical, moral, intellectual and social well-being. It likewise serves as a means to
promote education, health, development and peace.

II. OBJECTIVES
1. To acquire cooperative skills such as following direction, accepting individual differences
and working together harmoniously.
2. To exhibit sportsmanship through a sense of fair play and self- discipline
3. To widen the school base for talent identification, selection, recruitment, training and
exposure of pupils for the different competition
4. To showcase the students’ skills in different sports as well in dancing
5. To promote Physical Education and Sports as an integral part of the Basic Education
Curriculum in affirmation of the school’s commitment to the full development of the
great potential of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens of
our society
6. To develop the totality of our pupils/athletes

III. PURPOSE

1. To serve as an extension of the instructional program


2. To motivate students to exercise after school
3. To provide an opportunity to focus on vigorous activity essential for moral growth and
development
4. To strengthen the Sports Program of every school in Tayabas City Division.

CLASSES IS STILL ON GOING for those who are not yet involved.
NO PARENTS’ PERMIT, NO PLAY
Opening program for the Meet will be on October 7, 2019 Monday at exactly 7:30 am @
TWCS - 1 covered court.

5. It is participated by every school in Tayabas West District
6. Double elimination system will be applied in all events.
7. Team manager and coaches are held responsible for the disciplined and proper
observance of all rules and regulations governing the Distirct Athletic Meet 2019 during
the games. An athlete who had been thrown out for misbehavior, unnecessary roughness,
and unsportsmanlike attitude shall be suspended from the games. A repetition of the act

in the succeeding game shall automatically debar him/her from further participation in all
games for the duration of the meet. If the offense is committed in the championship
game he/she shall be suspended from participation in all DepEd Meet/ SSEAU Meet.
8. When an athlete who is ineligible or has violated any of the foregoing rules has been
inadvertently allowed to play and his/her ineligibility or subsequently established, the
game in which he/she has taken part be declared forfeited to the scores or points

* RATIONALE:
It’s stipulated in Deped Order no. 9, s. 2005 the Engaged - Time - On Task Program that
the office aims to arrest the deteriorating quality of education and one of the immediate tasks
that need to be undertaken is to increase engaged time-on-task. The objective is to meet the
required number of school days in every school year and the time allotment for the different
subjects in school day by lessening activities that the teachers and/or students away from the
classroom, maximizing the use of time allotment for every subject, and reducing the non-
teaching duties of teachers. In connection with this, the school will comply on this matter by
implementing the project TOT on the attendance of teachers to the Intramural Games of the
School as committee’s officials and team managers.
The said event will be held at the covered court of Tayabas West Central School - 1 and
Silungang Bayan from August 13-16, 2019. It is a non-academic activity and therefore the school
shall support the development of pupil’s social skills and self-reliance through sports.

* DESCRIPTION OF INTERVENTION PROGRAM / PLAN
The attendance and participation of forty-two (42) teachers will require them not to
attend the class during the schedule. The activity will consume two ( 2 ) regular days of class
for primary grade teachers and two ( 2 ) regular days of class for intermediate grade teachers.
The conduct of classes of the affected grade levels will be done through the utilization of
modules or worksheets prepared by their teachers to still cope up with the competencies that
