Er Ending Verbs
Er ending verbs are the most common type of regular verb in French. To conjugate an er ending verb
in the present tense, you simply remove the -er ending and add the following endings:
je + -e
tu + -es
il/elle + -e
nous + -ons
vous + -ez
ils/elles + -ent
je parle
tu parles
il/elle parle
nous parlons
vous parlez
ils/elles parlent
Ir ending verbs
Ir ending verbs are the second most common type of regular verb in French. To conjugate an ir
ending verb in the present tense, you simply remove the -ir ending and add the following endings:
je + -is
tu + -is
il/elle + -it
nous + -issons
vous + -issez
ils/elles + -issent
je finis
tu finis
il/elle finit
nous finissons
vous finissez
ils/elles finissent
Re ending verbs
Re ending verbs are the least common type of regular verb in French. To conjugate a re ending verb
in the present tense, you simply remove the -re ending and add the following endings:
je + -s
tu + -s
il/elle + -t
nous + -ons
vous + -ez
ils/elles + -nt
je mets
tu mets
il/elle met
nous mettons
vous mettez
ils/elles mettent
The verbs être (to be) and avoir (to have) are irregular verbs, but they are very important in French.
They are used in a wide variety of constructions, so it is important to know how to conjugate them.
je suis
tu es
il/elle est
nous sommes
vous êtes
