1. Overview
The INORA Omni-Gap is a convenient measurement tool for engineers, repair specialists, and line
workers that can measure automotive primary door seals, secondary door seals, and hard to reach
places that require precision feedback to the user. The Omni-Gap will save both time and money while
making troubleshooting appear simpler than ever.

2. Handheld unit features


2 x 16 alphanumeric display with adjustable backlight
USB charging and data transfer
64Mbit memory chip (about 8Mbyte)
Remaining battery % and Charge status indicator (orange = charging, green = fully charged)
Red power indicator (when plugged into a valid power source)
Approximately 15 hours of continuous use on a single charge
Compatible with standard INORA WISEgap sensors.
Up to 120 measurement points per set
Up to 30,000 measurement sets that can be saved

3. Sensor Technology
Metal Spring with Strain Gauge applied, used in a Wheatstone Bridge

Accuracy: +/- 0.1 mm

Measurement Range: 10 mm

Gap Range: from 5 mm up, + size of optional shims

Each Omni-Gap sensors comes with a 48 ar probe (please specify
when ordering). Shims can be applied to extend the measurement range to fit within your designed
measurement gap.

Standard Shims: 2.5 mm, 5.0 mm.

Optional Shims: 7.5 mm, 10mm, 2.5 mm Decklid (vertical flange, e.g. lift gate, hood, trunk...)

Customized Shims or Adapters to fit any surface to surface condition can be applied

4. Charging your Omni-Gap


To Charge your handheld simply plug in your USB A-mini B cable to a computer or USB wall adaptor.

LED indicator status

RED = valid power source


Orange = Battery is charging
Green = Battery is fully charged

Note
Approximately 15 hours of continuous use on a single charge
Full Charge from dead batteries can take up to 3 hours.
Measurements can be taken while the Omni-Gap is plugged in and charging

Measuring
Notes:

Live view is indicated by the star (*) in front of the measurement.


The number of points per set will need to be set in the Omni-Gap Desktop Software (default is
one measurement point per set)

Entering Measurement Mode:

Live readings will start upon entering measurement mode and continuously display the values on the
screen to the user.

Button actions in measurement mode:

Left: Return to main menu

Right: Prompt user to save the measurement for the displayed point number in the current
measurement set. If the user chooses to save the measurement by pressing the UP button, the point
number will automatically increment until the set is complete (then a new set will begin) and live
readings will resume, otherwise if the user presses the Down button the point number will remain the
same and live readings will resume.

Up/Down: cycle through all the points, when at first point go to the end of the list, e.g. the next
point to measure. Allow the option for the user to overwrite a value in the measurement set for the
point number displayed (if a value already exists in the set)

Shim Size
Notes:

The available shim sizes should be stored on the memory chip and programmable from the
desktop software.
The current shim size being used will be the first shim displayed.
Negative shim sizes are allowed in case of embedded sensors

Notes
Communication Mode is needed to allow the Omni-Gap desktop software to setup, download
data, and communicate with the Omni-Gap.

Zero Sensor
Notes
Zeroing the sensor will created a linear offset of the measured values. This is NOT a Calibration!

6. Downloading Data over USB


Connect the handheld to the computer using a USB-A to mini-B cable and start the Omni-Gap Desktop
software. Next click on the Download data button on the main screen of the desktop software. Once
data is downloaded the user can view the data within the software and can export the data so that it
can be used in other software packages.

7. Updating the Omni-Gap


The Omni-Gap can be updated using the Omni-Gap Desktop software.

8. Sensor Calibration
The Calibration software (sold separately) can be used for an unlimited number of Omni-Gap units and
can be used for with 3rd party reference tools with user defined nominals.

To Calibrate the Omni-Gap unit simply connect the handheld to the computer using a USB-A to mini-B
cable and start the Omni-Gap Calibration software, place the Omni-Gap into Comm Mode and follow
the on screen instructions.

The INORA gauge block conforms to the ISO 10360-2 standard.

10. Troubleshooting
How do I add or delete shims?
Shims can be added or deleted using the Omni-Gap Desktop software.

Can I calibrate the sensor without using a computer?


No. The calibration of the sensor can only be done using the Omni-Gap Calibration software.

How long does it take to charge the batteries?


The batteries can take up to 3 hours to fully charge.

Can I take measurements while charging?


Yes.

How do I update the firmware?


The firmware can be updated using the Omni-Gap Desktop software and a provided update file.

How to revert back to factory settings?


The Omni-Gap can be set back to factory settings using the Omni-Gap Desktop Software and
