Frequency Distributions of Random Variable or

Datasets
By frequency distributions it is meant to find the
frequency of occurrences of the values of a dataset
or events in a RV.
This also informs us about the probability
distributions of the values of a dataset or events in
a RV.
Problem
Consider a shipment of 7 TV sets in which 2 are
defective. If a random purchase of 3 TV sets is made
from this shipment, then find the frequency
distribution and probability distribution of the count
of the defective TV sets in the purchase.
Solution
1.Lets consider that D is for defective and
D is for non defective

2. Out of 7 items we have 2 are D and 5 are D

Possibilities of randomly selecting 3 items out of 7
items:
¿ or (1 D∧2 D) or (2 D∧1 D¿
( 2 C 0 ×5 C 3 ) + ( 2 C 1 ×5 C 2 ) +(2C 2 ×5 C 1)
( 1 ×10 ) + ( 2 ×10 ) +(1× 5)
( 10 ) + ( 20 ) + ( 5 ) =35=7 C 3
