Crepe Tubes

Oil Compatibility:
Oil compatibility shall be measured in accordance with ASTM D- 3455 “Test
Method for compatibility of construction material with electrical insulating oil of petroleum
origin”

The oil shall have the following minimum property values following the aging
process described in ASTM D-3455
Dissipation Factor % max., 100oC 1.1
Neutralization Number , mg KOH/g .04
Interfacial Tension Dynes.cm min. 38
Dielectric Breakdown , kV min. 28
Color Change max. .5

Adhesive:
Adhesive used in producing tubing shall be oil resistant and shall withstand aging
for 28 days in oil at 125 +/- 2°C without delaminating.

Dielectric Breakdown:
When tested in dried and oil impregnated condition at room temperature in
accordance with Weidmann Test method , “ Test method for AC and Impulse
Strength of crepe tubes” with a sample size of five specimens and with a 0.25” ID:

60 Hz. Breakdown Full Wave Impulse

Wall Thickness, (nom.) kV (min. of 5) Breakdown, (min. of 5)
.031” 18 38
.062” 28 55
.125” 38 80

Flexibility:
Tubing conditioned for 24 hours at 145 +/- 2°C shall be formed around a 0.125
inch diameter tube at an angle of 180 degrees for wall thicknesses of 0.031” to
0.125 “ and at an angle of 90 degrees for wall thicknesses greater than 0.125”
without breaking of the outer layer.

Dimensional Tolerances:
Inside Diameter: + 0.062” / - 0.0”
Wall Thickness: +10% / - 10% (Average 10 measurements)
