Students are to contact the teacher marking the task for feedback on drafts.
Drafts must be EMAILED to the teacher and submitted a minimum of 1 week before the due date
– only 1 draft per student.
Submission Instructions:
● Part A – Multimedia Campaign (published) - Handed in to CANVAS as a group on 11/09/2023
● Part B – Fact Sheet (Bring in to Class your 1 Sided Printed A4 sized fact sheet on the day of your
PART C)
● Part C – In class written response. You will answer a 5 and a 10 marker question in-class.

Introduction:
Road crashes are the leading cause of death for Australians aged 17-24. Governments and local
community groups have tried to address this significant health issue through a raft of measures.
However young Australians continue to be over represented in crashes that lead to death and serious
injury. Issues such as speeding, drink driving, driver fatigue and distractions such as mobile phone
usage are the major factors that contribute to motor vehicle crashes.

PART A | 15 marks
Road Safety Campaign: Group
Students, in groups of 3-4, must create a digital media campaign (Video Advertisement or short Film)
that specifically addresses ONE of the following Priority areas below for young drivers that ultimately
aims to reduce the injuries and death of young road users.
- speeding
- driving under the influence (alcohol/ drugs)
- distractions (mobile phones)
- fatigue

these videos are 90seconds to 3 minutes and follow the following guidelines
- You are not allowed to have a moving car in your video
- There is no consumption of alcohol or illicit drugs
- No dangerous situations where someone may become injured
- The filming of the video must be supervised by a trusted adult.

PART B | 10 marks

Fact Sheet

Students are to create a fact sheet providing:


- a range (3 or more) of Statistics which are linked to your groups campaign priority area
- a range (3 or more) of Trends which are linked to your groups campaign priority area
- a range (3 or more) of Risk Behaviours with linked Protective behaviours.
- A range of Current and past campaigns that address the priority area
- a range of short term and long term Consequences
- reference list

These facts sheets must be based on your group's chosen priority area.

PART C | 15 marks
In-Class response
Students will have 35 minutes to respond to 2 questions (5 marks, 10 marks) that will be based from
your fact sheet and your group's campaign.

The questions will be:


Analyse and Explain … (5 marks)
Justify … (10 Marks)
Process: The task will be issued to you in Week 3 of term 3. You will spend the first 4 weeks in class
working through Road Safety Lessons. In Week 3 you will be assigned your group and then in week 5
you will be given time to do planning and preparation as a group for your Part A Advertising Campaign.

You will submit your work in Week 9.

You will require the following:

Part A - Submitted on Canvas by one group member (Group task)

Part B - Submit a printed hard copy and an email soft copy to your teacher (Individual task)

Part C - Completed in class task in Week 9 of term 3 (Individual task)

Timeline:

Week 1 - 4 | Road Safety focused lessons in PDHPE classes - understanding the issues

Week 5 | (In class Theory Lesson) Planning lesson with group for Part A

Weeks 6 - 8 | (Outside of normal class time), complete any related work to the video (group) and
your fact sheet (individual)

Week 9 | Submit fact sheet and video on Monday 11th September (all classes) and Complete in
class task during scheduled PDHPE theory lesson in that week.

Campaign Video Scaffold:


The following is an example to help you plan out how to do your campaign video advertisement. It is
called a story board and gets you to map out each of the scenes with an outline so you know the types
of shots and things that are said in each scene. You will sketch up your drawings and write notes for
each scene.

and justification on how their campaign aims to death and injuries for their Advanced
chosen issue.
● Student demonstrates outstanding skills in critical thinking to address this
issue, the effect on the individual and community, reflecting on young
people’s opinions and attitudes to the chosen road safety issue.
● Student has created an excellent and comprehensively thought out AV
presentation that engages the target audience
● Demonstrates excellent use of creativity, ingenuity and original ideas to
create an informative, engaging and probing road safety campaign.
● Demonstrates a thorough use and analysis of current statistics/trends and 10 - 12
justification on how their campaign aims to death and injuries for their Highly
chosen issue. Competent
● Student demonstrates advanced skills in critical thinking to address this
issue, the effect on the individual and community, reflecting on young
people’s opinions and attitudes to the chosen road safety issue.
● Student has created an advanced and comprehensively thought out AV
presentation that engages the target audience
● Demonstrates thorough use of creativity and ingenuity to create an

on how their campaign aims to death and injuries for their chosen issue. Developing

their campaign aims to death and injuries for their chosen issue. Elementary
