Admissions Checklist Fall 2024
Applications open: July 1 Application deadline: November 1

APPLICATION FEES

 $125 to the Registrar’s Office upon submission of the online application

 $175 to the School of Dentistry through marketplace.ualberta.ca

REQUIRED DOCUMENT INFORMATION

Citizenship and Residency


All applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada on or before
November 1. Proof of a valid Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status is required.

Uploaded documents must include both front and back sides (excluding passports).

Transcripts and Dental Marks


Transcripts must be provided for all post-secondary work included in the application.

Dental transcripts (or mark sheets) must detail all courses taken and grades received within
each term/year. Summaries are NOT accepted.

Dental Degree
A copy of the dental degree is required if the provided transcript does not indicate that the
degree was conferred.

Licensure to Practice Dentistry


Applicants who are, or have been, licensed to practice dentistry in any jurisdiction, must upload
proof licensure from current and previous licensing bodies.

Certificate of Good Standing


Applicants who are, or have been, licensed to practice dentistry in any jurisdiction, must upload
letters of good standing (in English) from current and previous licensing bodies.

Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) Examination


Complete the AFK no later than August 15 to ensure that results are received by November 1.

Visit www.ndeb-bned.ca for additional information, important dates, and requirements.

 Sign in or Register for a NDEB account

 Schedule your AFK test at a Prometric test centre

 Complete AFK test

English Proficiency Requirements


English is the primary language of instruction at the University of Alberta. All applicants must be
proficient in both written and spoken English.

More information on how to meet the English Language Proficiency and Spoken English
Proficiency Requirements can be found in the University Calendar.

English tests must be no older than 2 years on November 1.

Minimum Scores TOEFL IELTS

English Language Proficiency

Overall Score 90 6.5

Band Scores 21 6

Spoken English Proficiency

Speaking Score 26 7.5

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS CHECKLIST


All documents must be received by November 1.

Applications will only be processed once all required documents and application fees have been
received.

Documents that are not in English must be accompanied by an English translation.

Applicants are responsible for uploading documents to their UAlberta Launchpad.

 Proof of valid Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident status (copy)

 Transcripts of all post-secondary work, including dental program marks (copy)

 Dental program degree (copy)

Rotating/compulsory internship certificate or equivalent experience treating patients,


 if applicable (copy)

 Licensure to practice dentistry from all previous and current licensing bodies (copy)

 Certificate of good standing from all previous and current licensing bodies (copy)

Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge examination results for each exam taken

 Proof of English Language Proficiency and Spoken English Proficiency
