bravado n. Bravado is a false show of bravery.
exuberance n. Exuberance is a condition of unrestrained joy.
degradation n. Degradation is the condition of being
brought to a lower level or humiliated.
impotent adj. If someone is impotent, he or she is lacking
strength or vigor.
poignant adj. If something is poignant, it is profoundly
moving or touching.
perverse adj. If something is perverse, it is stubbornly
contrary, wrong, or harmful.
retribution n. Retribution is something given in repayment,
usually as a punishment.
ostensible adj. If something is ostensible, it is apparent or
supposed.
squalor n. Squalor is a filthy, shabby, and wretched
condition, as from poverty.
stoicism n. Stoicism is indifference to pleasure or pain, or a
lack of visible emotion.

attain v. If you attain something, you gain it or achieve it.
alacrity n. Alacrity is cheerful willingness or eagerness.
contemplate v. When you contemplate, you look at
something attentively and thoughtfully.
covet v. If you covet something, you strongly wish for it.
dilapidated adj. If something is dilapidated, it is falling apart.
particular adj. If you are particular about something, you are
fussy about it and pay attention to its details.
tranquil adj. If something is tranquil, it is calm.
