Orientation (Sizzling Start and Backfill with characters and setting)

Sizzling Start:
Phweep. The exquisite whistle opened the intense red hydrants, enabling the pups to elegantly burst
through. Spark was the last pup to make it through, her intense white and brown fer made it clear that
he was a small boxer puppy with an attitude. Spark was a stray, she had never had the opportunity to
create a bond with a human before. The academy was formed to teach the power of friendship between
humans and dogs. If the bond weakens, Pup Academy’s leading constellation fades. If it fades, then dogs
can cease to be humans’ best friends. Pup academy has distinguished dog statue at the entrance of the
school, this statue holds the heart of friendship, this heart controls the whole academy and keeps it
secret while also keeps the constellation from fading.

Backfill: Who is there? Where are they? What are they doing?

Rising action (pebble)

What is the first small problem and how is it resolved?
Beeeezzzzt, beeeezzzzt, beeeezzzzt. The wolf alarm went. The whole academy went silent until the
speakers sounded.
“Everyone go to the nearest classroom we are under attack” Announced D.O.G the head teacher at the
academy. Not wasting a second spark bolted to the safety of the human behaviours class room. With a
second to spare head mistress gruff yanked the doggy door and down came a solid titanium slab
covering the classroom entrance. Spark cold hear the howls from the invaders. They were trying to get
into the academy from the gate entrance. Watching out the window the students could see wolfs but
not only were there wolfs but there was one of their professors. “Professor Fitz” Spark snarled.

Rising action (rock)

What is a second slightly bigger problem and how is it resolved?
“I knew it”
“I was right”
“That sneaky professor”
The thoughts circulated through sparks head. She knew she had to do something, but what. The doors
where locked and the windows where closed. How would she escape, until Spark realised that the vents
where open. She ran over, she shoved her nose in between the vent and the wall. The vent exploded off,
in the confusion spark raced through the vent. Twisting and turning until she finally found the exit.
Outside Spark could hear the professor talking to the wolf. “The heart is in the statue” Professor Fitz
mumbled. Before thinking Spark exploded out of the vent and began a dash to the shack where Morgan,
the principal’s apprentice was hiding.
Climax (boulder – the big complication and turning point for the character)
Spark found Morgan hiding in the old wooden shed. Spark tried to ask Morgan for help but all Morgan
could apprehend was “WAFF WAFF”. Spark tried to grab Morgans pants with his teeth but Morgan
wouldn’t move, until Morgan heard the alarming wolf howls and realised Spark was trying to tell him
something. Spark ran outside the hut with morgan closely trailing, Spark led Morgan to the entrance
gate where Professor Fitz and Wolf went with the heart. Together they entered the most dangerous part
of the school, the wild wood. The wild wood was the only thing protecting the school from the human
world. They could hear the howls from the wolfs. With courage they went deeper into the misty grey
forest. Before they new it they found an opening that led to an open field. The observed the professor
and wolf talking about the heart and how they would destroy it. The wolf suddenly started approaching
Professor Fitz, then in a flash the wolf lashed out at the Professor with a millisecond to spare the
Professor turned around and accelerated for the safety of the school. Morgan and Spark found this as an
opportunity to steal the heart. The lept out of the bush, picked the heart up until the wolf stopped them.
The wolf startled Morgan and Spark and sent them running into the open field. The wolf chased them
until Morgan and Spark came to a stop. There was a cliff standing in their way, the wolf was closing in,
they had nowhere to go, they where trapped.

Falling action (What happens after the climax?)

The heart started to glow in Morgans hands. It made a ruby red sphere around Spark and Morgan. The
intense luminous red light scared off wolf and allowed Spark and Morgan to create a bond between boy
and dog. “The boy and the stray will ignite a friendship that will save the day” Morgan announced.
“You mean I am the boy and you are the stray” Exclaimed Morgan.
“Wait I can understand you” Spark replied. Morgan and Spark created a bong between boy and stray
that ignited the heart and strengthened the constellation.

Resolution (What happens in the end? What did the characters learn about courage?)
Spark and Morgan gracefully walked back to the academy where every dog was waiting at the gate
prepared to defend the school. There was no need Morgan and Spark returned the heart to it’s rightful
place in the chest of the dog statue and the school and the constellation grew stronger.
“Now the clean-up begins” Whinged Spark
