overpressure smoke prevention system for vertical escape routes mcr EXi

To provide more safety to building users, an overpressure smo-

ke prevention system for vertical escape routes mcr EXi is in-
stalled in staircases. The system consists of suitably designed sets
of equipment which co-operate in inducing overpressure to pre-
vent smoke from getting to the protected zone. The system opera-
tion is controlled by certified mcr Omega control unit.
The overpressure system mcr EXi is actuated by emergency smoke
exhaust button or by external triggering devices (e.g. by signal
from FACV – fire alarm control unit).
As the signal of fire signalling system occurs in the building, the
properly adjusted intake units get activated: GZN (upper intake
system) and/or DZN (lower intake system), located in certain
places of the staircase. Within a few seconds, the staircase is filled
with air and differential pressure between the staircase and the
corridor develops. The overpressure in the staircase is of 20-80 Pa,
which guarantees the force necessary to open evacuation door is
not higher than 100 N. As the door is open, excessive air in the
staircase prevents smoke from getting to the escape route. The air
reaches required flow rate if exhaust is provided from each floor at
which ventilator is installed. Recommended area of the hole should
equal at least 0.3 m2 (air may be exhausted e.g. through the win-
dow smoke exhaust system mcr-OSO or through dedicated pres-
sure relief-smoke exhaust channels with fire dampers mcr FID or
mcr WIP).
Pressure is controlled automatically by the system of correctly ar-
ranged pressure relief units such as GZU (upper pressure relief
unit) and/or DZU (lower pressure relief unit).

complex jet fan system for garages mcr j-FLO

Jet fan systems are used for smoke exhausting from underground
garages as a solution alternative to conventional duct systems.
Operation of the jet fan systems is based on a piston effect in
which the smoke and fire gases are suitably forced through the
whole garage section from the inlet hole to the outlet hole (smoke
exhaust).
The jet fan systems may be used also for comfort ventilation of
garages, as well as co-operate with the CO and LPG detection
systems and dilute and remove gases harmful to people’s health.
The mcr j-FLO complex jet fan system for garages consists of:
• main inlet and outlet fans (e.g. mcr Monsun, mcr Pasat,
mcr Monsun S & mcr Monsun R) of fire resistance F200, F300,
F400 (single-direction or reversible),
• jet fans mcr Bora of fire resistance F200, F300, F400 (single-
direction or reversible),
• mcr Omega control units which supply and control the system
components,
• cut-off dampers for fire ventilation systems (e.g. mcr FID S,
mcr WIP),
• power supply cables, cable suspensions and electro-installation
accessories,
• components of CO, LPG and smoke detection system.
Configuration and the number of individual components of
the system depend on the surface area, height, requirements,
construction and location of the garage to be protected.

In the case of a fire/smoke, the mcr j-FLO complex jet fan system for garages:
- provides temperature which allows for safe evacuation of garage users (less than 60°C to the level 1.80m above the ground)
- provides visibility which allows for safe evacuation of garage users (less than 10m to the level 1.80m above the ground)
- facilitates operation of rescue teams by not allowing the temperature to increase above 100°C at the distance of more than 10m
from the fire source,
- contributes to the building structure protection by ensuring temperature below 200°C at the level over 2.50m from the ground
(in the space under the ceiling).
