Rainbow granny square crochet pattern by Marianne Rawlins

You will need

• Any DK yarn in blue, green, orange, red and white


• A 4mm (US G/6) hook
• Small pompom maker (optional)

Rainbow granny square pattern


Using blue, make a crochet magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as a tr throughout), 11 tr into loop, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [12 sts]

Round 2 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, 2tr in next 5 sts, change to green, 2tr in next 6 sts, change to blue, ss to
top of beg ch-3 [24 sts]

Round 3 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, tr in next st, *(2tr in next st, tr in next st)** 5 times, change to orange,
rep from * to ** 6 times, change to blue, ss to top of beg ch-3. [36 sts]
Round 4 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, tr in next 2 sts, *(2tr in next st, tr in next 2 sts)** 5 times, change to red,
rep from * to ** 6 times, change to blue, ss to top of beg ch-3. [48 sts]

Fasten off all colours except blue.

Round 5 Ch3, *2dtr in next st, ch2, 2dtr in next st, tr in next st, htr in next 2sts, dc in next 4sts, htr in next 2 sts,
tr in next st, rep from * 3 times more omitting final tr, ss to top of beg ch-3. [56 sts, 4 ch-2 sps]

Round 6 Ch3, *tr in each st to ch-2 sp, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in ch-sp, rep from * around, ss to top of beg ch-3. [72 sts,
4 ch-2 sps]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

To finish

Using white, make 2 small pompoms and sew to the ends of the rainbow.
