Subjective complement

Predicate:

The part which tells something about the subject. This is called the predicate of the sentence.

సబ్జె క్టు గురించి చెప్పు రెండవ భాగమును ప్రి డికేట్ అంటారు.

The predicate is what is said about the person or thing denoted by the subject

సబ్జెక్టు చేత సూచింపబడిన వ్యక్తి ని గురించి గాని లేదా వస్తు వు గురించి గాని చెప్పు దానిని predicate అంటారు.

Predicate may consist of one word or several words in sentence

వాక్యములో predicate భాగములో ఒకే ఒక పదము గాని కొన్ని పదములు గాని ఉండవచ్చును.

Ex: Dogs bark subject Dogs predicate: bark

Ex: the sun gives light subject: the sun predicate: gives light

Ex: my father gave me a watch subject: my father predicate: gave me a watch

Predicate consists or one word or several words one word is main word that is always Verb

Predicate లో ఒక పదము లేదా కొన్ని పదములు ఉన్నప్పుడు వానిలో ముఖ్యమయిన పదము క్రియ పదము అయి
ఉంటుంది దానిని predicate-word అంటారు.

Predicate consists of one word that is Verb and predicate consists of four words of which the
essential word is the verb.

Predicate లో ఒకే ఒక పదము ఉన్నట్లయితే అ పదము క్రియ పదము అవుతుంది

మరియు predicate లో పదముల సముదాయము ఉన్నట్లయితే వాటియందు ప్రాముఖ్యమయిన పదము ఒక క్రియ

పదము ను కలిగియుంటుంది

Ex: Dogs bark predicate: bark Verb: bark

Ex: the boys made rama captain predicate: made rama captain verb: made

Predicate = verb+object

Generally, the predicate has verb and object

సాధారణముగా verb మరియు object ను కలిగియుంటుంది.

Verb:

a word is used to express an action or state

ఒక పనిని గాని ఒక విషయమును గాని తెలియజేయు పదమును క్రియ అంటారు.

A verb is a word used to tell or assert something about some person or thing.
ఒక వ్యక్తిని గురించి గాని, ఒక వస్తు వును గురించి గాని వారు లేక అవి చేయు పనులను గురించి చెప్పునట్టి పదమును క్రియ
అంటారు.

తరచుగా క్రియ పదము ఒకటి లేదా అంతకన్నా ఎక్కువ పదములను కలిగిఉంటుంది .

Ex: 1.the girl wrote a letter to her cousin 2.Kolkata is a big city

Transitive verb: (passing over) -చలన క్రియ

a transitive verb is a verb that denotes an action which passes over from the doer or subject to an
object

కర్త నుండి కర్మకు action వెళ్ళునటు వంటి క్రియను transitive verb అంటారు.

Ex: The boy kicks the foot ball Verb: kicks

Intransitive verb: (not passing over)- నిశ్చలంగా ఉన్న క్రియ

An Intransitive verb is a verb that denotes an action which does not pass over to an object, or which
expresses a state or being.

కర్త నుండి కర్మకు action వెళ్ళనటు వంటి క్రియను intransitive verb అంటారు.

Ex: the boy laughs loudly. Verb: laughs.

When the verb in the predicate is an Intransitive verb, it alone can form the predicate.

Predicate భాగములో క్రియాపదము intransitive అయి ఉన్నచో అట్టిపదము ఒంటరిగా predicate ను ఏర్పరుస్తుంది.

The verb in the predicate is an intransitive verb of incomplete prediction, that is , an intransitive verb
which requires a noun, or an adjective or pronoun etc., added to it to make the predicate complete.

కొన్ని సంధర్బములలో predicate లో నున్న ఒంటరి క్రియ పదము intransitive verb అయి ఉండి భావమును
అసంపూర్ణముగా ఇవ్వడము జరుగుతుంది దానిని ఒక నామవాచకము ను గాని, విశేషణము ను గాని , సర్వనామము ను
గాని కలిపినచో భావము సంపూర్ణం అగును

Intransitive verb requires some word or words to make the predicate complete.

Intransitive క్రియ predicate ను పూర్తి చేయుటకు వేరొక పదమును తిసుకోనును.

Ex: the baby seems happy verb: seems complement: happy

Complement: what is thus required to complete the predicate and to make complete sense is called
a complement

predicate భావమును పూర్తిగా మరియు అర్ద్రవంతముగా చేయు పదమును complement అంటారు.

The complement of an intransitive verb serves to describe the subject, and is therefore called a
Subjective-complement.
Complement గా ప్రవేశించిన పదము subject ను సంపూర్ణముగా వివరించును కావున దీనిని subjective-
complement అంటారు.

Complement is an adjective:

Ex: the sky grew dark subject: the sky predicate: grew dark

Subject word: sky attribute: the verb: grew complement: dark

Complement is a noun

Ex: Venus is a planet subject: Venus predicate: is a planet

Subject word: Venus verb: is complement: a planet

Complement is a pronoun

Ex: It is me subject: it predicate: Is me

Subject word: it verb: is complement: me

Complement is a participle

Ex: the man seems worried. Subject: the man predicate: seems worried

Subject word: man attribute: the verb: seems complement: worried

Complement is an adverb

Ex: your book is there subject: your book predicate: is there

Subject-word: book attribute your verb: is complement: there

Complement is an infinitive

Ex: the house is to let. Subject: the house predicate is to let.

Subject-word: house attribute: the verb: is complement: to let

Complement is a group of words doing he work of an adjective

Ex: the building is in a dilapidated condition subject the building

Predicate: is in a dilapidated condition

Subject-word: building attribute: the verb: is

Complement: in a dilapidated condition.

When the predicate is completed by an adjective, such an adjective is said to be used predicatively or
to be a predicative Adjective.
ఒక adjective ను ఉపయోగించి predicate ను పూర్తి చేసిన సందర్బములో అట్టి adjective ను predicative adjective
అంటారు

When the predicate is completed by a noun, the noun is said to be a predicative noun.

ఒక నామవాచకము పదమును ఉపయోగించి predicate ను పూర్తి చేసిన సందర్భములో అట్టి నామవాచక పదమును
predicative noun అంటారు.
